Hello all. This is an unusual request, but maybe you can help. I'm trying to have one of my favorite geeky images turned into a Diamond Painting. I've sent the image to a company in China to have it converted into a pattern, and printed on canvas, before being sent to me slathered in glue with 'diamonds' of the correct colors. For those not familiar with diamond painting - the colors used are the DMC colors.
My problem is that the focal point of the image is a cathedral which looks completely blown out in the proof of what the finished piece should look like. Possibly because they're saying they only do 30-45 colors per image?
Is there a way to optimize this image so when they convert it - the cathedral and the sky just above it isn't a washed out mess? Help!
(For the record - I requested the piece as being 80cmx100cm when the canvas comes to me...)

You know what - I'm good. I found a company, finally, that will do it with 120 colors - and it looks fabulous with more colors. It's costing me a lot more but- oh well. Them's the breaks.

I wanted to suggest to increase the number of colors! Can't you ask this new company if they can print the XSD file and offer you the kit? Maybe in this was I can help you by lowering their huge price. I can do it for under 10 USD. I know for sure all the chinese companies use the XSD file for their patterns. Just wanted to help!

Well. I'm also paying for the printed canvas, with the glue, with all the 'diamond' drills - so even if I could get the //image// on the cheap - I'd still have to source getting it printed, and glued, and buying all the correct drills and... well. Easier to get it all done all at once.
I might be paying almost twice the price of the first company (it's costing $60 for everything, including shipping) - but it's still half the cost of getting it done by an American company.
I'm just glad I found this company. They were the only one that didn't say '30-45 colors.'
