Sprite Stitch SAL - Summer 2017
Posted: Sun May 28, 2017 3:59 pm
Hello everyone, welcome to our stitch-a-long!
Let me quickly explain how this is going to work, for those of you who may not have participated in something like this before.
~First Stage - Designs~
In the first stage, you lovely people will be asked to come up with a video game based design to go into the SAL. We'll be using 50x50 blocks, so your design has to fit inside that size. Here's an example of a block, just to show you what you can fit in it:
Last time we did a SAL, we used a layout like this:
But this time...well I think I'll let you guys choose your own layouts. If you want to use this one, go ahead, but if you want to arrange your blocks in a different way then that's cool too!
~Second Stage - Stitching/crafting~
Ok so after we have a bunch of designs, we'll stop taking any more. There'll then be a vote on all of the designs. Out of the top few, one will be randomly chosen through the magic of a RNG or something like that. We'll all have a time frame to try and complete that portion of the SAL, then repeat a couple of times with different random designs. The last block can be one you choose yourself - it can be one you designed or one you just like a lot, but it must come from the selection of submitted designs!
You'll be free to add borders and whatever embellishments you like, but the only thing I ask you add is your name (username or real, that's up to you), "Sprite Stitch" and the year somewhere on the sampler.
~Other Stuff~
~A word on crafting~
I know it's called a "stitch-a-long" but I've never been one to leave people out! If you want to do this in another medium, by all means do so! You may also mix crafts if that's your jam!
~Pattern Creation and Help~
If you don't feel like you can make a pattern or design, but you have an idea - ASK FOR HELP! It's totally fine to ask for some assistance and you are guaranteed to get it from someone here!
~What's this..? Prizes?~
There will be some prizes to win, but I'm not revealing anything until later...
Well, I think that covers everything...but if you still have questions then please do ask them! OK then, time to start work on your designs!
