Can't believe it's that time of year already! Time to sign up to this year's mini swap! If you don't wish to participate in the swap, but would still like to be involved in a challenge, there will be something for you to do. More details on that coming soon

To make our swap truly mini, much like the original mini swap, we're going to try and make our gifts within a size restriction. I've done a bit of research and have set the maximum size as 5x7", which is apparently a standard greetings card size. Enough space to make a good something! This also means that if you make something flat or flat-ish, you may be able to send it as a letter instead of a package and save on shipping. Don't worry though, you can still make something non-flat and send it as a package, just ensure that it's no bigger than the 5x7"! The size limit also applies to a set of items - the set as a whole should meet the size. I know some of you will try and find a way around this limitation, I say bring it! Just don't go too far!


Now, there are some new swap rules being implemented.

First of all, to sign up you need to meet my criteria - it's not hard and isn't super-restrictive! All you need to do is meet the following:

Posts - You will need to have posted on the forum at least once; if you're new, please go say hi in the introductions thread or post something you've made (see below).
Example of work - I need a publicly available example of work. It could be posted on the forums or an external link, but it must be available for all swappies to see!
Send me a fully completed survey - very very easy. Please ensure that your first name and surname are included, and answer all questions honestly.

Once you have done that and I have verified that you meet the above, I'll add you to the swappie list!


Second new rule is that I must see proof of postage by the end date of the swap. I'm happy to do this through the PM system. It's basically for my records so that I can see who has sent something. As in the past, I will grant extensions to those who REALLY need it, I do understand that life sometimes interferes with things so do contact me as early as possible to let me know your situation. However, I will still require the proof of postage so please bear this in mind.


Finally, please consider your personal situations carefully before signing up. Think about your time, money and whatever commitments you might have. Please don't sign up if you can't commit to the swap 100%.

I wish I could participate... But with me still being sick and my month of september that will be taken by me studying/working on all my freetime for that promotion my boss has been strongly encouraging me to apply to, I just couldn't get it done on time...

Hopefully next year I get to participate!

Also jazzed it's a little one! I've just started an online university enabling course so if it were a big'un I wouldn't have had time at all which would have upset me somewhat since these swaps are so much fun!

I have never done a swap with this group before, but am very interested in trying. I was wondering what the time frame for a mini swap usually is, like when would we know our swap person and how much time is given to complete and ship the item.

I collect all the info up, and you'll find out your swap partner on September 1st. You should send your gift or gifts off to your partner by October 31st.
