Thanks so much! That is all extremely helpful! Meitow, I don't really do any editing before putting into KG except for cropping and resizing in GIMP. How would you use paint to clean it up beforehand and eliminate colors like you suggested?

For the Black Mage pattern I made I used the grid lines and zoomed in so I could "paint" one box at a time and you can set it to pick a color from the picture to use and I would do it that way to get everyone one color in segment (like the grey champagne glass or bell in my Black Mage pic that were both .jpg pics when I first found them). I tend to resize in Paint and then save as a .png and then work with it from there. I mainly do color changes in Paint with something that is an obvious not right. For the little bits I do that in KG chart because I can go back and forth from the pattern symbols to the "finished" picture to compare.monkeypeaches wrote:Thanks so much! I will say that I am still extremely new to pattern making and it still gives me fits quite often. LOL!

Re: Charity Quilt(s) 2013
Ok, so I finally made a pattern that I'm actually excited about! It's the bunny mask from the in-game masquerade ball poster in Bioshock. What do you guys think?! I would love any honest feedback you have. It still needs a bit of reworking but it's almost done.

Here's the original image.
I decided to take out the smaller confetti because I thought it ended up looking like weird pale blobs in KG. But then I'm wondering if it looks less interesting without it. Let me know what you think; better with or without the small confetti? Here's how it looked originally uploaded to KG

I think it would look better with the confetti, but you could possibly just do those free-handed, I would think.
And I love this idea. Those masks are very creepy in-game. *shivers*

Thanks for the vote, Kareesh! I started looking at it again and decided that it could look really good with the confetti if I could just clean it up some more. I don't like freehanding as I stitch, but I did decide to freehand all of the small confetti in KG. Here it is, an I am so much happier with how it looks. Much less plain, and it will be more fun to stitchKareesh wrote:I think it would look better with the confetti, but you could possibly just do those free-handed, I would think.

I like it. I don't play those games (at least not yet) but will you stitch me one after?

So, I have finally finished tweaking my pattern for my Sailor Moon: Another Story square! What do you think?
The red outline will not be there.

Yeah...I meant freehanding in your program. My husband once asked me if I ever just freehand things while I'm stitching and I gave him a "Are you crazy" look.monkeypeaches wrote:Thanks for the vote, Kareesh! I shall be posting a picture of my completed square as soon as I can get a good shot and calm down enough to stop chair dancing.
