I did all my cuccos in DMC 340 because it was the closest I had to what was called for originally, and now that I am almost done with them (just two more to fill in with white and then they are done), it looks fine.

I think the shading is blue so 793 looks right to me I used 770 or some # close to that.

Edit: actually 809, I'm terrible with #s

The gray blended together with the white, imo, so that's what I'm using. Of course, not staying true to whichever game this is from xD I just like how the colors seemed to mesh really well without noticeable disparities. I can't remember which number I used though. Maybe when I finally get a picture taken/posted.

I went with 159. It's still a blue/grey/purpley colour but it's lighter than the one the pattern calls for, so I think it blends better with the white. I always find it interesting how many different colours people will choose for the same thing. No wonder the pattern generating programs never really get it "right"!

I think the multicolor would be fun. It looks pretty cool already

It's time for the second pattern! And, my random picker says it's...

Pikmin 2

Here's the .sth and .pdf for you all to use!

Just a quick question - has anyone thought about what they are going to do with the space around the squares?

Ooh, I just had a thought. You don't all have to put the squares in the same location as everyone else - put them wherever you like! So I might put them like:

12
34

But someone else might go for:

14
23

And so on. And of course I know some of you are planning on extending your samplers, so feel free to place the designs where you want to. :)

I haven't played Pikmin 2, but I have played the first one. I think it makes it kind of interesting to stitch something you're not so familiar with!

LucyInTheSky wrote:I'm not the biggest fan of cross stitching (impatient + hurts my hands), and I love quilting, so I decided to do this as a quilt-along. Xanatos posted a quilt here viewtopic.php?f=10&t=15305 which uses a cool technique where you cut out a zillion squares and then fuse (glue) them onto a lightweight fabric. You then stitch the seams to secure everything. I decided to give it a try for this.
Haven't seen this method before; I'm enjoying reading your blog! I will definitely have to try this. I've been holding off on pixel quilting because i'm afraid of misaligning something, and this seems like if you can sew in a straight line, you can quilt in a straight line. This will be my next project for sure!
