Yeah but with ebay buyer pays shipping not seller.

Even so i think the dinner would be the better option of the two

I think we should definitely send this to the dinner. I feel the point is/was to make money for Child's Play more than to promote Sprite Stitch, and like tnitnetny said there will be a Sprite Stitch square(s) featured on the quilt and a lot of influential eyeballs checking it out at the auction. Also, they usually post pictures of the auction items after the dinner, so people will be able to see it there if they're browsing the other items and it would be cool to have something up there with the heavy hitters like Blizzard and EA.

I was thinking about us possibly making up a sort of Sprite Stitch Certificate of Authenticity for the quilt, with the names of the people who helped create it, to be bundled with the quilt itself. It would provide some provenance to the quilt, as well as give the buyer the name of the site (and us!) - hopefully s/he would then be able to tell people who made the quilt and why, as well as where they bought it. That in itself might give us the fabled word of mouth publicity, which is priceless!

As for publicity, we might be able to do some of that ourselves if we put our heads together. We can try contacting the gaming sites such as 1UP, Kotaku and the like - they may have representatives at the dinner (if we're lucky). Also, as I said, word of mouth is priceless so we could try to use social networking sites, I know many of us are on Facebook so something like that could be helpful.

I'll look into other things we can do as well :)

I also think we should send it to the dinner. True it will be a shame not to know how much we raised, but it will feel good knowing most of the proceeds are going to Child's Play and not to a third party organization. I know I only sent a few dollars with my patch, but I am willing to donate more if needed to help cover shipping costs.

I like blackmageheart's idea for putting in a Sprite Stitch Certificate of Authenticity. ^^ I realize there will be our logo on the quilt but it just seems like a neat addition as well.

Wait, this is something my husband and I can do more effectively, since we are part of the industry and we know lots of media people (my husband has been the reviews editor for IGN, G4 and EGM). If I can get all the details about the dinner and the auction, I can start talking to friends and ex co-workers immediately to get as much coverage as possible. Also, my husband is a social media genius with thousands of followers on Twitter, which doesn't hurt either.

That would be amazing!
I truly do believe that word of mouth publicity is the best type, and usually free! If we do send the quilt to the dinner (which is looking like the most popular option) then I believe you and your husband could be of immense help in spreading the word!

I'll keep an eye on the discussion; if the dinner option ends up being the winning one, send me a PM with the details or post them here and I'll start talking to people. This is going to be awesome!

I like this idea. I would also suggest including a 'template' card that looks like the quilt, with numbers where each square goes, that tells the winner which game the square is from and who made each quilt square (user name or real name).
Current Project(s): How much time do you have? LOL

The only problem with that is to get it all signed you'd have to send it all over the world...
