Stitching ideas for this amazing fabric?
I got some beautiful linen recently. It's Zweigart opalescent Newcastle Linen in the shade volcanic ash; it's a hand dyed blue-grey color. I'd like to make something outside of my standard Mario stuff (since I'm not sure the sparkles really fit well), so suggestions from any games are welcome. The picture doesn't really do it justice, its so sparkly! I'm happy to make the pattern, I just don't know what to make the pattern of! Thanks ^_^
Current projects: blackwork Macintosh, Super Mario World - Star Road map, Super Mario World - Full Map!

I've got some similar stuff, and still haven't figured out what to do with mine either!
My Little Pony might not go too far astray maybe? Or maybe a fancy Princess Peach?

I have some gorgeous fairy patterns that would suit that! I'll see if I can look up the names of them. I can't remember offhand.

It's making me think of space, and twinkling little stars not long after dusk... I kind of want to put a giant winter tree silhouette at the bottom.
But I also like the idea of fairies, I think that would work really well!

Yes, fairies! Love Eliste's idea for MLP too! ORRRRRR....mythical creatures like a unicorn, phoenix, pegasus, mermaid (I have a few books stuffed with these kinds of patterns).lcockitt wrote:But I also like the idea of fairies, I think that would work really well!

If you had the time/finances/patience to order a chartpack, I think Joan Elliots Snowdrop Fairy would be BEAUTIFUL on that cloth! I also agree that any type of mythical creature, like a unicorn or mermaid would look great as well.

I second the mythical creatures idea, especially a phoenix, can't go wrong with one of those!blackmageheart wrote:Yes, fairies! Love Eliste's idea for MLP too! Also whatever you do, think flowing and soft lines, magical! Try and avoid harsh shapes or too drastic colouring...

Totally - this kind of fabric calls for something with half-stitches to soften the edges.QueenBex wrote:Also whatever you do, think flowing and soft lines, magical! Try and avoid harsh shapes or too drastic colouring...

I was reading peoples suggestions and when someone mentioned stars, I thought "Why not something with the Tardis floating across a starry sky..."

I did automatically think Dr Who, but I think the fabric is a bit too light to do it well.glitch wrote:I was reading peoples suggestions and when someone mentioned stars, I thought "Why not something with the Tardis floating across a starry sky..."
