I spend most of my crochet time working on my own designs, really trying to make a go of this blogging thing, but my favorites are the intricate blankets like sophie's universe or mandala madness. I just bought a kit of eastern jewels as a wedding gift.

So, my boyfriend posted a picture of my work on Reddit, and someone commented, "if you make on once there is 1000 pokemon I would buy it for $300". I nearly died laughing. Which is bad because I was driving. Thought people here would get a giggle out of it.

That's certainly what I took for the joke! I'm working on the pattern myself, and there's no way I'd give it up for less than a few thousand.

I know this one. When multiple family members (who don't do any needlecraft or time consuming hobbies) saw my epic mario cross-stitch they would try to convince me that I should make them to sell [you know because I'm not employed and could use the money]. I'd try to explain that it's too time consuming and they never seemed to understand. It was like they were trying to reassure me that they were good enough to sell.

I mean this pattern is what 800k stitches?
Even if someone gave you $5000 + material & framing costs.
If you averaged 100 stitches/hr, it would only amount to about $0.62/hr.
If you somehow reached the fabled BMR-hr work rate of 360 stitches/hr, it would only go up to $2.25/hr.
