Re: Super Mario World Map WIP
I know what you mean about having some in the wrong direction. I just unpicked an hour or so worth of stitching on my current project because I did them wrong.
I dont think which hand you use determines which way you stitch. I have noticed my stitch direction changes at random over my different projects

I'm a righty, and I suppose *technically* European (although not on Mainland Europia lol). And no, it doesn't make a difference!jadely wrote:On the other hand, I did notice you cross you stitches and opposite way than I do. Are you a righty or lefty? American or European? Does this even make a difference, or did I just learn to do mine backwards I sometimes do that....

I stitch the same way Squall does, and I've been told I'm doing it wrong. Of course I just lol at people who say that, because I don't think there IS a wrong way, or a backwards way! It's all down to doing what you feel comfortable with, really. As long as all the stitches are the same, it doesn't matter! (Although you know...some of my very earliest projects weren't all the same way - it gives a very interesting texture lol)

Looking good Squall - keep it up!

I started my last design in the top left corner and that turned out fine, apart from I stitched in random directions and the result bugged my the same way this project is bugging me at the moment =P I'm going to have to undo those 40-50 stitches at some point and make sure I don't make the same mistake again. I'm sure most people don't mind which way the crosses are, and I bet it's not even that noticable to some people. Maybe I just have an OCD or something =P
Thanks for the encouragement by the way

Re: Super Mario World Map WIP
A little update of my progress =]
You will notice that I fixed that line of green stitches that bugged the hell out of me. The crosses all in the right direction and I can now once again sleep at night =P
I think I'm going to have to do some more of the sea this week. It's just so monotonous. -_- Not looking forward to that...

Re: Super Mario World Map WIP
The more I see this, and after my last couple projects, the more I think I would enjoy doing it. I'm more of a do-an-outline-and-fill-it-in-with-a-color type than having to do a few stitches here and there of several different colors.
It looks great... maybe I'll attempt this one... I have no idea what I would DO with it once I finished, though.

I've really enjoyed doing this one so far. I quite enjoy stitching large blocks of colour and this pattern has plenty...I don't have to engage my brain too much after a stressful day at work =PRockstarGirl wrote:The more I see this, and after my last couple projects, the more I think I would enjoy doing it. It'll be fun if a few more people start on this pattern. I think there is only Me and Daizeh at the moment
I think I'm going to frame mine once it's complete then hang somewhere in my gaming room =]

I have two rooms (I live with my parents - crappy economy and the fact that I lost my job a few months ago) - my bedroom and the bedroom next to mine, which I've basically turned into a living room - so you'd think I'd have somewhere to hang it. But I've got most of the available wall space covered with posters or with jigsaw puzzles I've put together. And I hate to take any of them down, especially my puzzles. Maybe I could shift some stuff around... of course, once I finish my blue dragon I'm doing, I have to find somewhere to put it, too.

Similar situation to what I'm in. I live my parents and have a bedroom and a gaming room. I've got a good job but buying a house is impossible here, especially at the moment and I don't want to just rent a place.RockstarGirl wrote:I have two rooms (I live with my parents - crappy economy and the fact that I lost my job a few months ago) - my bedroom and the bedroom next to mine, which I've basically turned into a living room - so you'd think I'd have somewhere to hang it. It's a very time consuming project so you have plenty of time to figure out what you'll do with it once it's done. I reckon it's going to take me about a 2 years to complete this.

Re: Super Mario World Map WIP
I will post a new WIP soon.
I've mainly been doing the grass part so I didn't think it was worth posting a new pic just yet.
Expect an unexciting update tomorrow =P
