progress pic again!
I've run into an alarming and awful problem though...
I've run out of Welcome to Nightvale Podcasts to listen to when i'm stitching.
BUT
i've gone 3/6 pages!

moar progress!
all the new stuff was done today - I've stitched until my back gave out... and then I just kept stitching. Because I can, apparently. (plus it'll never get done if I stop whenever i'm sore...)
BUT. I've figured out i've miscounted, and am 2 lines out...not that it'll show when it's done.

This may be a dumb question, but is that the kind of cross stitch fabric that pulls out strand by strand when you're done stitching? I can't tell from the pictures. How do you go about finishing the back of something like that? I've only ever done small pieces on clothing and I use a fusible interfacing to cover the back of the stitching, but would that even be feasible with a project like this?
Oh, and that blanket is my favorite color ever, so I'm digging this project on two levels.

Not a dumb question at all! Technically, it's not waste canvas, though i'm using it as it. it's more the stuff you'd use when doing a tapestry/needlepoint. It does pull out strand by strand, but it's a bit harder to do than with traditional waste canvas. I'm only using this stuff because I couldn't find waste big enough! (in physical size and count) I used something similar when I was making BMH's gift for last year's swap (I think it was sept/october?)
I'm not going to worry about fusible stuff on the back, since it's wool thread on a blanket, the first was it gets, it'll felt down pretty hard, and it'll never come loose then!
I'm also loving the blanket colour - i'm glad I chose this blue! This thing is going to POP when it's freed from the canvas!

Thanks!
I haven't gotten much further, since I finally managed to crack my gigantic hoop (oops... ) while readjusting it. So i'musing my Q-snap frame, which is actually a lot easier, but its' TOO SMALL AUGH.
it's the 6x6 one so it's TEENSY. I'm trying to contact the makers for a shipping quote for a 11x11 one, or possibly a 17x17, though i'm worried that may be suddenly too big. any ideas, guys? I'm not that interested in a rectangular 11x17one, I have a wooden frame for that haha!

I think 17x17 would be way too big. Once you got your project in there, it would get super heavy and you may even hurt your hands a bit when trying to anchor the frame while stitching. I would stick to the smaller size or 11x11 if you can get it.
I love the way your project is going though. The colours are really pretty and vibrant!

I think you're right, Yurtle. I can get whatever size I need- even with int'l shipping, it's still reasonably priced. 17 would be huge. Though my dream is to have one of those massive floor ones, haha.
I'll be buying an 11 inch one probably next week.

I've been busy!
I got my 11x11 frame, and the next day my needle punch stuff turned up, so I did pretty much nothing on my blanket until the last.. four days? haha.
I've filled in the tummy, finished off the red/orange part of the wing, the dark blueof the wing, and i'm filling in the light blue of the wing at the moment.
Having said that.. the WIP pic is from just before I filled in the orange lineup the wing. It's looking real nice though!

I'm going to attempt to finish this before the 12th of October. For no particular reason.
I only have 2 pages left, really, so I should be good. The worst thing is dealing with sore fingers from stitching through waste canvas and blanket with wool - and the tapestry needles aren't particularly sharp lol.
