Yeah, definitely went faster than expected. Do have a usual style/look to my pictures/the frames, every so often, especially the ones for me, they come up with some unusual and unique ideas. So we'll see how this colored bevel looks. Also, because I'm still a horrible person, I forgot to list the colors I used in my last post, so we'll take care of that here:

text/white of the spaceship: BLANC
orange stars: 740
blue stars: 995
turquoise/light blue of the spaceship: 3890
orange of the spaceship/flame: 922
red of the flame: 221
dark grey of the spaceship (hard to see on the black background, but it's there as an outline to most of the ship. Benefit of using MS Paint to open my patterns in is I was able to use the paint bucket tool to easily change the background to yellow so that the grey stood out/I could see where it was): 3799

Got a bit of work done on Spirit Tracks today. Was smart enough to leave off in a good spot, so it was easy to figure out where in the pattern I was/am and what needed to be done. Today was mostly working on some of the outline of a section of the smokestack. We'll finish the outline tomorrow and should be able to finish filling it in on Friday. And then we'll work our way down onto other parts of the train. I'll either go two and a half weeks (likely) or three and a half weeks (maybe, but less likely) before my next update, just to get back on the regular Sunday update schedule.

Yeah, not sure what I want to do for PH yet. The box cover, or part of it is a possibility, but as I said, I'm leaning toward something a little less involved. The boat is obviously a big part of the game, so a shot of Link on it is a maybe. Also have a screenshot of Link opening a chest/holding up a treasure chart as a possibility. And if any of the creative minds here have too much time on their hands and want to just bust out a pattern, I'm willing to check it out/maybe give it a go. :)

That's a great color palette! 3890 is one of those colors that I have yet to see in person...it stitches up so nicely!
Happy stitching!

3890 is one I picked up for Four Swords, one of a few bright, neon-esqe colors. Given the bright colors and sheer number, I'm a little surprised I didn't need/use it for Minish Cap, too. But always happy to have the chance to use colors I already have, especially something a little more unusual.

Spirit Tracks is moving along. Prolly looking at early/mid May to finish this hoop, but we've got some good chunks of color, so maybe we can finish it a little earlier. But this will finish off a big chunk of the train, so looking forward to being able to show that off.

Nothing like sliding in at the last moment. Sent the framer an email on Wednesday, just to check the status of things, see if she was going to be able to finish this in time. Got a reply Thursday later afternoon that the frame had just been delivered that afternoon and she was busting tail to get everything finalized. Little after 7 last night, got a second email saying it was all finished and ready for me to pick up this morning. So I've got it in my hot little hands and am able to take it with me to Dad's tomorrow. We'll be leaving for the game shortly after I get there, so we'll save the presentation until after we get back home, but looking forward to giving it to him, and seeing what he's been up to this past month+ of retirement.

Spirit Tracks is moving along. Saw there's actually a couple of big patches of colors in our current hoop, so I plan to take it with me this weekend after all. Don't know if I'll have much time to work on it, but I can maybe at least fill in some patches without having to look at the pattern. Monday, we'll take the next WIP pic so you guys can see where we currently stand.

Thank you. :) Yeah, sweating bullets there the last couple of days, wondering if I'd get it in time, but so thankful I did. The fun is in the creation and all, but something special about giving one of my projects to a friend or family and seeing their reaction. Especially when it's a surprise. Dad knows I stitch, I've worked on a few projects while up visiting him while we're watching TV, but had no idea I was working on this for him or was doing anything in particular for his retirement or anything.

Just picked this up from the framer. Looks great as always and plan to fill out the prize application this afternoon. Event is the first week of July https://gamesdonequick.com/marathons/cm ... 01cr2ghzp3 so we need to get the ball rolling, but plenty of time to get it mailed off and all.

Thank you. :) Still think I should have used a darker blue for the background, but this works. Filled out the GDQ prize application yesterday, so just awaiting word that it's been accepted. I also spent a little time yesterday planning for stuff for upcoming GDQ stuff. Got a good picture for AGDQ 2027 and have a possible for SGDQ 2026. I know what I want to do, have the game/text all figured out, just a matter of how big to make the picture/how much do I want to show. Original idea was too big/too much to stitch. Tall and skinny, 70 stitches by 210 or so, but almost all of it would have been stitched. But I think I can cut it in half height-wise. I think I have left enough info to show which game/where it is from and show what I want to go with the text. Obviously have a few months to monkey with things, but think I've roughly got a pattern set.

Spirit Tracks is rapidly coming to a conclusion (see my other thread). Which means we'll be turning our attention to our upcoming GDQ projects. Had something else tentatively planned for SGDQ 2026, but was able to put together another idea I had. And this one is a little more involved/will take a bit longer to stitch, so figured we'd do it first since we have more extra time than usual. "Cheese strats are win strats" is something I've said a bunch, sentiment recognized by speedrunners and casual gamers alike. Seeking victory and if you can do that with minimal effort or exploiting a tactic, why not? But, like my SMB3 pic I did for this year, I wanted a story behind the picture. I wanted some instance where actual cheese was used to set up a strat or otherwise pave the road to victory. And I found one. Spoilers for any of you who plan to play King's Quest 5 any time soon, but at the end of the game, you have to throw a block of cheese into a vat/potion thing in order to beat the game. Not beaten the game myself. In fact, I've played very little of the series overall, but poked around the Internets and found this (pictures are from the NES release of the game, but the series was primarily a PC one. Why 5 was released for the NES and none of the other games, I have no idea). So this is what we are depicting. You can see from 13.49.17 the actual screenshot from the game and corresponding text. The cheese isn't actually shown, so I took it from the inventory shot seen in 13.38.51. And then cut out some of the extra lab stuff and adjusted the text to fit a more compact picture. 128x123 so roughly a similar size to my other projects. I was able to order a blue piece of cloth (shipped, and should be here next couple of days), so that'll save me stitching the background. Checked, and had all the colors I wanted/needed to do all the stitching. However, I was running errands out of town last week anyway, so swung by Michael's to grab extra of a few of the colors, just to make sure I had enough. So once we finish Spirit Tracks, this'll be our next project.

And after that, we'll knock out our AGDQ 2027 donation. As is usually the case, this'll be quicker and simpler. Keeping with tradition, we've got some more bad Engrish to highlight. This time, from the ending of the Japanese version of Mappyland for the NES. You can see the attached original full screen version of the ending. Nothing really to change here, just selected the text and two characters and cut out the rest. Mostly just the text, so we'll be able to bust this out in two weeks, three at the most. And that'll have us covered on donation pictures until January, February 2027 when we'll look at something for SGDQ that year (which I have all ready to go, other than picking colors/getting my threads together).
