Of all my cross-stitches that I want to frame this one I would like to frame most, yet aside from the ones I done for my mom and others I have yet to frame any of mine.

Cross-stitch is super easy TigerLily. Materials don't cost much, find a nice easy to follow tutorial and a very simple basic pattern to start, you could probably surprise yourself and learn it quickly, I did. I started out looking at enlarged pictures of sprites in the earlier Nintendo Power magazines (that was tough to eyeball for accuracy), well before ever using a computer (pre-2006) to make the whole pattern thing easier. My stitches, especially the backside were very sloppy, but the actual stitching, making the X's, was easy (fine-tuning, making them neater came later).

Okay! Quite a long time since last updating. Where the heck was I last? Ah, the 5 swords. Well, after that one was completed I was going to try and actual did start a new composition work, but half way through it I found I didn't like it as much as I thought I would so I cut apart what I did, used the empty parts of material for smaller projects I'd be working on soon after. So begins my updates, lots of new cross-stitches.

A dragon's ransom of treasure. This, along with at least a half dozen other choices I had intended to cross-stitch for the Bling Challenge at Sprite Stitch last year, but I simply just wasn't in the mood to stitch at all then so it got postponed until today, when along with several other recent stitchings I decided to do now being as I'm all out of large sheets of material but have plenty of scraps to work with.

A very simple design, yet I liked the colors and how these crystal balls were layed out. This was another possible choice for the Bling Challenge at Sprite Stitch last year which I passed on. So what's so special about these (my mom didn't get it, didn't see any way why I'd choose something like this to cross-stitch)? Well, at the beginning of the game, Farron's trusting ally and advisor (a guardian dog) lays before him three crystal balls, each provides Farron some enhancement, but you may only choose one to use for the entire game (if you want to try another one out you'll have to play again and make a different choice). The Life crystal (pink) increases your max health at the start. The Flight crystal (blue) gives you a boost in jumping. The Spirit crystal (yellow) gives you shooting power. Once you pick a crystal its power stays with you the whole game.

While looking for dragons to get patterns from for later possible cross-stitch projects, thinking of other ideas too, gargoyles came to mind. The best one I could think of right away was from the very first stage of Batman: Return of the Joker on the NES, and so putting aside others in the line up of next pieces to do, this one was started immediately. There are three of these gargoyle statues, on after another, each, when Batman gets close will zap him with bolts of lightning, this also is the only moment they are vulnerable to attacks as well. The colors and details on this statue make for a perfect cross-stitch on black material, shows a lot of depth and is just so bad ass a pose and design.

Been wanting to do something glow-in-the-dark for a long time since I'd tried it out over 2 years ago. My first time using this floss made me hate it, tricky to thread through the eye of the needle and easily frayed if snagged on anything, such rough dry hands, cuticles and even the slightest barely visible tear of a fingernail. But having wanted to stitch something cool that would light up in the darkness I had to give it another try. But, I'm going to stick to small things, at least for now, see how it goes. So, first up, the twin dragons that adorn the floor at the end of mission 8 of Double Dragon II: The Revenge.
You are probably wondering what it looks like in the dark, well I tried, just could not get the darned thing to glow strong enough for the camera to see it.

One day while trying out various games on emulator, I decide to give Dizzy a whirl. Watching the intro story this interesting item catches my eye. I captured the image. Not sure why, but this one, as odd as it seems was begging to be stitched. It certainly is an ordinary object if there ever was, but perhaps it was the rarity of such a piece that caught my attention, afterall, as much as I'm aware of, its a one of a kind as far as NES games go--I've never seen such an object in any other game I have ever played.
