I was going through at least 5lbs (~2.25kg) of sugar a week. So heres to hopefully losing 50lbs by the end of September.
The soda is such a trap! My boyfriend wants to lose weight and complains that he's fat even though he eats well/doesn't snack, and I'm all "Well... maybe it's because you drink ridiculous amounts of fruit juice and coke each day?" and he just doesn't get it. I've shown him the ingredients and calculated the amount of calories he gets from sugar in those drinks and still he just doesn't seem to believe soda or juice could contribute to him not losing weight.* Good on you for recognizing it! Hope you reach your goal!

*: just to clarify, I don't mind his current weight at all and only pointed this out to him because he wants to lose weight.

Anarchy- congrats!! FYI, it took me a full year to lose 50lbs on Weight Watchers. I didn't exercise, just did the pointing. Whatever you do- don't eat your exercise points!! Every time I did that, I didn't lose.

For Lent, the wife and I decided to give up gluttony. Not that either of us sit down with an entire box of chocolates and gorge ourselves while binge watching Netflix and swigging beer or anything. But we'd both eat for enjoyment and eat until we were full.
Our methods differ, but I have some set rules for myself.
I eat a small breakfast, normally an egg, and a banana. (About 200 calories).
I eat a small lunch, normally left overs, which I dish out the night before after dinner, and I put about half of what I think should go in, in. I guestimate my lunches are at about 400 calories.
For dinner, our rule is, we eat off a salad plate, and we don't get seconds. I figure our dinners are roughly 500 calories.
I already run, and I've been increasing my mileage substantially preparing for a race.

Results?
In 5 weeks, from February 11th until today, I've dropped 13 pounds. From 205 to 192. I actually woke up at 190 yesterday morning, but I'm pretty sure I was dehydrated, so I'm treating that as an outlier.

ABout as good as I had expected with the very minimal training I had done.
Good run, felt healthy.
It was raining and in the 50's the whole time, so it was pretty good weather, for me, at least.
The funny thing is all the dietary prep work leading up to the race, and eating and drinking during the race, I put back on 5 pounds.
Pretty much just an increase in salts so a lot of that is just water retention.

For those who advocate measuring - just wondering...what's the best way to measure your body? When I was weightlifting it was always waist, arms and neck, but right now I'm not sure which part would be best to measure to track my progress. I was thinking waist definitely, since it has disappeared somewhere, but what else would be a good indicator of fat loss?
