confirmation yes!
Last year I was I nearly ran away from a job interview the night before (had to give a presentation the next day). I was super freaked out. So anytime you push yourself to do something scary, no matter the outcome, is a win in my book.

Thanks guys!!! I'm glad I did it!

I just registered for an "Introduction to Kendo" class. It starts in April and lasts 6 weeks. This will be my first class taking anything like this, so I'm a bit nervous, but pretty excited about it as well. My husband is also excited, 'cause he wants me to teach him what I learn. I honestly can't wait for classes to start. ^_^
I wish you all the best Kareesh! Back in high school I got into Isshin-Ryu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isshin-ry%C5%AB) first at a dojo and then when the Sensei there decided to move I took it at the YMCA and I LOVED it! I actually got into it because I sat in on a class that my brother was taking and then asked to take it myself. My brother quit after three or four classes but I fell in love. I got all the way up to almost green belt before my parents yanked me out of it (in fact they told me I could no longer go the night I was going to take my test for my third stripe orange belt because I had a C on my report card). I would love, love, love to get back into a karate class and have actually talked about joining a kickboxing class but, as always, money is too tight for such things so I continue to wait it out. I'd actually really love to learn how to use a naginata someday as well.
This thread was a great idea! I haven't been around because I've been dealing with health stuff, but good news... I don't have cancer! They thought I might and I had to wait about a week and a half for the results... very scary stuff. But I don't have cancer or pre-cancerous cells, so woo hoo! The day I found out I also got in a car accident, but my family and I are okay, so I'll put that down in the "Woo hoo!" category too. Also, it was the other woman's fault, so her insurance will have to pay for everything.

Glad to hear that it's not cancer! That's always a scary prognosis. And yay for insurance covering the costs. Which reminds me, I need to call our insurance...ugh...

I'm so glad to hear that everything's okay, in terms of both the medical front and the accident! I'm grinning big for you now. Celebrations are in order!

That's fantastic! I had a similar situation a few years ago so I can relate. I'm glad you are done with it!
And...it sounds like you and I could have a competition for "weird streaks of luck."
My favorite weird accident so far: a large rock hit my car on the freeway, bounced off the front windshield without breaking it then (got caught in the jet steam of my car?) and crashed into the corner of the rear window and shattered it (spider web cracks over all of it). It wasn't covered by insurance as "those only break when someone breaks in or when you close the trunk on a 5-door on something that sticks out." >:( Also I'd just had it darkened/UV protected a few days before as an early x-mas gift... we got a discount to have the new one retreated lol. The "good" part of this was that no one was hurt and I have a really weird story to share now.
