Child's Play Quilt Square - Halo 2

I have been trying to work up a pattern for a Halo 2 quilt square for the charity quilt, but I am having issues with KG Chart. I started with this image:
[The extension bmp has been deactivated and can no longer be displayed.]
KG Chart wouldn't pick any green shades for the armor, just browns, but it looks like it should be more green to me. It was driving me crazy trying to edit the pattern, so I kinda gave up on that image and moved on to this one:
[The extension bmp has been deactivated and can no longer be displayed.]
I think I have the sky and the visor done up pretty well, but I'm not sure about the colors in the armor (I personally don't play Halo

). We don't really have a store in town that I could check/buy the colors, so I have to order online.

Will someone please take a look at the partial pattern I have and help me make it look right? Or am I being too picky? I'm just as happy to stitch up the first image, if it's easier to make up a pattern from that instead?

Pretty please? Thanks!

I've been trying to work on this pattern (still

, lol), but I'm really awful at making patterns from non-sprites. I'm not really particular on which image or how many colors to use, but I would like to get a good start on this or maybe even finish it in the next couple months! If anyone has time, will you please please please help me turn one of my images or another acceptable one into a workable pattern for the Child's Play quilt? Thank you for considering!

Hey katdun! Sorry to hear you're having trouble!
I think the main problem with both the images is the similarities in the shades, the stitching programs sometimes can't differentiate between the colours in an image and will tend to bunch them together or just be plain wrong.
Anyway, I just ran the second image through PCStitch and it wants to use 118 colours - the preview looks decent enough to me!
Preview's kinda large so is in the spoiler tags
I can PDF this up for you if it's acceptable, or I can reduce the number of colours down to a more sane level!

118 colors, yikes!

It looks way better than what I was coming up with, lol, but could you please reduce the colors a little? Maybe more like 60-70ish if that's at all possible? If it doesn't work out, I'll take the challenge of 118. I really appreciate your help!

Played around with different numbers of colours for a while - found that anything below 80 started to look messy!
So, here is a preview of the 80 colour version:
Let me know what you think, and I'll throw a pattern your way!

Here are two PDFs of the pattern (one with black&white chart, one in colour)!
Hope they are ok for you!
