Sprite Stitch Board!

Summer Reading Club for kids is getting ready to kick off at my library, and the theme this year is "Dream Big! Read!" so, when we were trying to figure out a good display, I figured that the typical big dream for little kids involve castles (whether it be little boys trying to be a knight, or little girls obsessed with Disney princesses (or being the evil queen if they are anything like me)). And because I was the only one with an idea, I got put in charge of it

That said, I made a castle with 5 pieces of 7ct plastic canvas. One for the right and left tower, one for the tall middle tower, one for the main building and one for the drawbridge. After covering them all with yarn, I stitched them together, with the right and left tower, and the drawbridge, popping out from the wall. The fluff is clouds. So, it's a castle in the clouds surrounded dreams. Also, in all the windows of the castle are little bracelet charms of things like dragons, crowns, horses, ballerinas, etc. Other things a kid could dream about. The drawbridge has tongue depressors hot glued to the bottom for stability. I might end up putting something with a bit more weight than the tiny plastic dinos there.

I hope you're going to be getting it back when the display comes down - or maybe that it'll be put on permanent display elsewhere at the library!

I think that the branch manager intends on keeping it for the library. She was quite happy with it once she saw it done... particularly since the Summer Reading Club displays are some kind of contest with the branches (this is my first year at a branch, I've always been at the main library where we didn't do such things) and "they never think we'll have something cute or creative" so this year is rather different.

As long as all the kiddies like it (I tested it with my son first ) then I'm happy with wherever it finds its permanent home.
