Dragon WIP - Sunsong Amphiptere

I've seen a couple of threads here that feature the Dragon Cave dragons - I think there was a Daydream and one of the valentine pink dragons. Here's my attempt at a Sunsong Amphiptere.



I haven't gotten very far yet, though.

Did a bit more today!

I'm liking how the tail is coming, though I think the dark blue/purple is too dark. It'll sort itself out though, i'm sure.

The tail purple and blue (that looks like black) are way off in this pic! they're not as.. saturated? in real life.

I get that too - colours look really odd in photos.

Its coming along quite nicely, what are you planning on doing with it once its done?

Thanks! I'm thinking of painting a hoop in one of the purple shades - at the moment i'm toying with getting DMC 3722 made into a sample jar and using that - and then putting it up on a wall over my desk.

If this one turns out well, i'm thinking of doing a Guardian as the next big dragon, and a few pygmies as magnets.

Because apparently I can't have too many dragons.

4337 stitches for the dragon itself, and the pattern is 84x90 stitches.

sorry for the double post, but here, have an update!

The white areas are where I've managed to forget to get the last colour I need. Sigh. My skill at forgetting that one thing is still unsurpassed.
Other than that, I'm really happy with how it's coming, though there's like three blues that are almost exactly the same, and two yellows with the same issue! At least I know that with the minor variations, 1) if I stuff up, it won't be noticeable! and 2) the similar threads will ad to the warmth and richness of the finished dragon.
