Re: Rhaben's Projects
I just took this off of my scroll frame. I'm going to turn it into a pillow for my mother's Christmas present. It's our family tree. I designed it to work specifically for my family and I used a live oak with Spanish moss because they are fairly common where most of the family is from.

I think I'm in love. I grew up in Mississippi, and I spent plenty of time around live oaks draped in Spanish moss. Seeing this got me a little choked up, actually. I think I'm a bit of a goober.

Re: Rhaben's Projects
I love this. I have a pattern for a family tree that I wanna do, but I'm not sure how to handle some things (divorces, remarriages, etc).

Thank you. My family is from South Carolina, and I know what you mean. I love the moss draped trees down there. I'm in NC but close to VA, too far north for them. Yes, I did make the pattern from scratch.RMDC wrote:![]()

Kareesh, I had some of that too. The way I handled it was if a child resulted from the union, the divorced person that wasn't really in the family was included. I.E. my grandfather left my grandmother when my mom was 6, but I included him. One thing I did for a member of the family that I think may want to make this was place her sister (who she wants nothing to do with, really bad blood between them, lots of drama) off to the side so that she could be cut out of the piece.

Re: Rhaben's Projects
Is there a version of the pattern with just the tree? Have you considered putting this pattern in your shop?

Re: Rhaben's Projects
I'm thinking of doing several different versions of the tree that people can fill in boxes and place them where they are needed. Yes, I really want to put it in my shop. I posted it on several different cross stitch groups on FB and the response is HUGE. They LOVE it. I will probably work on it in earnest after Christmas. Is there a version of the pattern with just the tree? Have you considered putting this pattern in your shop?
Meanwhile, I finished the pillow for Mom.
