Legend of Zelda Latch Hook Rug
Hi all!
Just thought I'd share a recent project I completed as a moving in present to my partner (and myself ) as we've recently bought our first house together.
I've never given latch hooking a go before, but it was really straghtforward to pick up and the project grew really quickly (which is always nice ). I made the pattern using my usual cross stitch pattern making software, but then selected the wool colours from an online retailer. The colour selection is a lot more limited than DMC/Anchor threads, so making a pattern with limited colours is definitely a must and I had to compromise on a couple of colours due to limited choice.
All in all, I'm pretty chuffed with the way it's turned out, although having spent a fair amount of time making it, I'm a bit worried about it getting dirty if it's actually used as a rug! Are there any other latch-hookers (?! is there a more appropriate term XD) on here with any tips about displaying work?

It looks phenomenal! Congrats on finishing it...and the new house!

If I had that, I'd feel like I was about to fight a boss every time I entered the room! I love it, and many congrats on the new home

Re: Legend of Zelda Latch Hook Rug
That is fantastic!
In terms of care yes it will get a bit dirty and freyed with regular use (enforcing a no shoes policy will help). I recently washed one that my mother made about 20 years ago - gently handwashed in luke warm water with a splash of wool wash and dried flat in the shade - and it came up nice and clean. If the ends get a bit freyed you can snip them back a tiny bit to get rid of scraggly bits.

Thanks for the kind words and advice .
Wow, 20 years is impressive! Gives me hope that mine will last a while too in that case!

I absolutely love this!! Is there any way you would consider posting your pattern? I would love to make one for my living room.

Sure thing! You'll have to find your own wool though unless you're based in the UK?
