Tetris quilt!

Postby LucyInTheSky » Mon Nov 17, 2014 4:44 pm

I originally made this Tetris quilt (http://www.spritestitch.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=10058&hilit=tetris+quilt) using a solid square for each block. Nice and simple. But, I love tnitnetny's 3D blocks and after a few years, decided to redo my quilt. And here it is! This is going to a friend's mom. She [the mom] recently lost her husband unexpectedly, then her father-in-law, then found out her breast cancer came back. I was talking to my friend, saying I wanted to make a quilt, were there any her mom likes? Her mom asked for the Tetris one. I said "is she sure? There is a curse word on it...?" and my friend said "with everything, that's how my mom feels". To get it finished by Thanksgiving (when I'm in Tucson, where my friend is) I spent about 4 weeks straight working on it (including taking a sick day from work), and I'm so happy with how it came out and can't wait to give it to her next week

So sorry to hear about your friend's mom.

I do love the quilt, though. The blocks are amazing!

That's great, especially for someone going through so much at the moment. I love the way you did the blocks.

I picked up your blog right as you were in the home stretch for this quilt, and it convinced me to stay. :nod

Woohoo! I just went there and was like "whoa! That's my quilt! On the front page!" - thank you. And, yes, blurring, I totally understand and am glad that you were still willing to feature it.

Oh, and when I first read it, I read "Lucyinthesky, a former member" and was like "what? Did I get kicked out?" Heh

Just continue making fabulous things and I assure you that your account won't end up in a concrete overcoat. :mod:

Don't hurt me, I'll do whatever you want! I'm excited for the Fall 2015 swap - someone will be getting a quilt (or a few someones, since I'm not the only quilter). 2014 was finishing projects. 2015 will be more fun new stuff!
