I wanted to tests a few things I learned and thought a portal book would be a good test. I created all pages using excel (there are 16 different icons throughout the book), and I found the other images on google. Once I figure out who the artists are I will add their names. I think I'll work on a zelda one next

Portal and Banksy Book
Here is the project that has put my zelda embroidery on hold. I've been learning bookbinding for the past couple of months and this is my progress so far.

That's intense. You're totally going to tell us where we can learn to do this, right?

Re: Portal Book
I learned mostly from browsing youtube and bookbindng websites. Sea Lemon on youtube is a really good resource to start with, the tutorials are very well made and she explains how to make books using everyday materials. http://www.youtube.com/user/SeaLemonDIY
Once I was a little more experienced I used the Bookbinding Chronicles to learn how to sew using a frame, and how to make larger books http://www.youtube.com/user/BookbindersChronicle
From there I found random info that I would piece together to get the result I wanted. Also if you are near San Francisco there is the San Francisco Center of the Book that offers classes that include basic bookbinding, leatherwork, and gold foiling (SFCB.org). I am hoping to take classes there soon.
And for supplies, I use Hollanders. They have the best selection I have found so far, but they are a bit pricey. Luckly it is not hard to make a press as long as you own a drill, and the sewing frame isn't to difficult either. I was able to make both for $30 instead of paying around $400.

Re: Portal Book
It looks fantastic!! I have a signed print of the image you have on the back cover. I actually bought it from the artist himself at Fan Expo this year!
Love your book. You did such a great job on it!

Re: Portal Book
Here are 2 more books I've made. One is made of graffiti from the artist Banksy, and the other is from fancy wrapping paper. Like the Portal book, the Banksy one has 16 unique line pages, all of them with rats! I also included the sewing frame and book press I use. Luckily my dad has a work shop and was kind enough to make these for me (in return for some books of course )
