Mario Kart IRL

So...my 27th birthday is on October 10th and I want to get a group of friends together, dress up like Mario kart characters, and go to the local go kart park. I need some suggestions on how to do costumes on the cheap for some of the characters. Obviously, the human characters will be fairly easy, but the other characters are going to be a little tricky. I don't need SDCC cosplay quality ideas, but I would love to hear any ideas any of you have! Thanking you in advance!

That sounds awesome. You definitely need to tie balloons to the back of your karts if you can get away with it!

Excellent idea! I'll see what I can do.

Mario, Luigi, Wario- Mustache, Hat, Overalls & shirt would be enough. In fact, you could get away with simple colored baseball hats that I know you can get pretty cheap in like a Michael's. The overalls could be skipped too as long as the 'tache was awesome enough.
I think a lot of others could be done with hats too. Like Toad. A big floppy hat with spots stuck to it would work fine. You could totally do a Yoshi hat too that was basically the top of his head over the brim of a baseball hat. Like
this one.
Really I think the only ones that would be difficult are the Kong & Bowser. The others could be done pretty easily with just the right head gear and clothing in the right colors.

I want these outfits to be obnoxious! Like, prom dresses for Peach/Daisy. And I have a TMNT backpack that would do for Koopa. Ovaralls will be a must for Mario/Luigi/Wario/Waluigi. I think Toad's head may be a chef's hat with spots. Yoshi and DK might be a little difficult, but this is why I'm bringing this up in May. I want the costumes to be fairly accurate, but, like I said, I'm not going to SDCC with these. They really just need to be noticeably accurate.

This is the best idea ever.
Freddie Wong did something like this a few years ago:
