Why I can't stitch all the Pokemon (and yet still want to)

1. I don't like the epic patterns. I think they're awesome, but they make my eyes swirly. Too much going on. I have the utmost respect for the people who make/stitch these patterns tho.
2. I've done the math. I know I couldn't do one a day, with the exception of the tiny Pokemon. And if I did one a week I'd be working on this for 10 years. Assuming I never missed a week.
3. I have SO MANY THINGS that I want to stitch that I couldn't keep up the enthusiasm for stitching Pokemon. (Although I've loved Pokemon for 13 years, I don't see why I wouldn't love them for 10 more assuming Nintendo/Game Freak evolve the game to beyond the collect-8-gym-badges-defeat-team-rocket-wannabes-defeat-elite-four-+-champion-now-what recipe.)
So I'm thinking of doing an epic 'Women of Pokemon' or 'Items of Pokemon' or just 'Berries of Pokemon' or something. Smaller but still Pokemon fan art-y.

I would LOVE a pattern of all the women of Pokemon!!
What helps me with those huge patterns is I print off the patterns. I like the stitches on the paper to be nice and large. Then I highlight all the stitches I finish as I do them. It makes it a LOT easier.

Yeah I tried that once. It doesn't matter how big the pages are, really big patterns make my eyes swirly. It's a mental thing. My mind tries to take the whole thing in at once and I just can't process it.
I just admire all those that can.

I know about the whole swirly thing cos it gets me too no matter what the size of the pattern. May have something to do with working on 32 count fabric and always miscounting
Iv'e got into the habbit now of breaking a pattern down into smaller sections and working on them one block at a time (usually 20 x 20 stitches) may b slightly more effort at times but i find i can see the progress and don't get lost so easy.

I can easily understand that. I've started marking gridlines on my fabric now because I've miscounted a bunch of times on my 32ct and had to take everything out. I didn't notice until I was on my 5th or so color which made it even more frustrating. Now I put the gridlines on and highlight my pattern as I get done with each row. I still have mistakes but its more of a stitch in the wrong place that isn't noticeable.

I've started collecting all the artworks I pass in pokemon. Maps, paintings, portraits, etc. I'm only on Fire Red so far, but I might go through the other games too. I was thinking of making magnets of them, but they could probably be made into a combined thingumy too

I kinda want to work on those patterns, but I just picked up the Madoka one and it is going to take forever. I also get distracted by small projects along the way.

I would suggest picking out your favorite Pokemon, say 20 of them, and either make a pattern with them all in it or just plan on making one a week for 20 weeks. You can use the overworld sprites that are a lot smaller. For the Big Swap, BMH made me this:

You could do something similar.

I'm not that big into Pokemon anymore, but I use to collect the cards and play Red, Yellow, and Blue on my Gameboy Color back in the day. I've always thought about tackling the Generation 1 epic one, but not quite sure. I've also thought about just stitching them individually, but then I would have even less of an idea of what to do with them when I'm done.

Have to wait til my current project is done tho.
