  1. I think they’re being held up by glass bubbles. There used to be fish on the market that were similar – tied to the item with fishing line. I think you can see them on the right side.

  2. they hang in small glass bubble filled with air. (you can see the bubbles on the top of the water) i had similar things when i was a kid. but they wasn’t as cool as these. i had tiny glass fish in the end, not super mario.. ^^

  3. Little Red Lupine

Looks like they’re actually attached to glass ball floats. You can just see the balls on the top of the water. Probably with thin fishing line or thread. Very cool!

  4. my guess is that they are actually suspended in a clear gel with water on top.

  5. They are not being held up by floating glass bubbles, in fact they are not sitting in a bowl filled entirely with water either. I went to the link for ‘more pictures’ that WireBot links to in their post (http://www.hiyoko-g.com/1603_mario_summer/), and though the website it leads to is not in English, I can tell you that the “water” is actually tiny balls that when put in water expand and sort of gel together to create the appearance of a full bowl of water. The Mario items themselves appear to be from a diorama sort of toy placed in the watery bubbles.

Best part about this? All you need is to find some good underwater themed Mario stuff, and head over to the floral department of your local Michaels Arts & Crafts where you can find those expanding water balls in clear and colored varieties.
