Angry Birds Pencil Case

Post by toobusytostitch »

I have just finished making an Angry Birds pencil case for my nephew for Christmas. I need to duplicate this to make one for his brother and hope to make the second one look a little smarter!

Initially I tried to hand sew the Aida to the pencil case but it was too hard to reach in and stitch properly. I haven't yet tried using the sewing machine my mum recently gave me (that she has had since she was at school in the sixties!) so I resorted to backing the stitching then gluing it to the case with Hi Tack All Purpose Very Sticky glue. It seems to have done the trick so although I know it's a cheat I'll follow suit for the second one.

Next time I want to make something like this I think I'll try to make the case as well then I can stitch straight on to it with waste canvas or soluble canvas (but I haven't had any experience with these either yet!!!).

That is a great idea. I am making my son a framed cross stitch I never thought about turning into something useful.
