Has anyone played Secret of Mana?

I'm working on a Secret of Mana project for a very good friend of mine. I'm trying to come up with some type of border to put on it but I've never played the game before so I have no idea what I could/should use. Anyone have any ideas? This is the current project:

I love Secret of Mana! Great pattern! Personally, I'd go with some kind of leafy/planty border given the Mana Tree theme. Maybe vines or roots going all around? Something like these?

That's a great idea! Thank you, Belthasar. He's all in to nature stuff too, so maybe some leafy vines at each corner so it looks like a frame.
