Lightsaber Blueprint Embroidery by Lord Libidan

Post by Lord Libidan »

Image
Title: Lightsaber Blueprint
Date Completed: June 2014
Design: Lord Libidan
Count: 14
Film: Star Wars
After visiting the Pompidou Centre in Paris, I had an idea for an archaeological blueprint. Also resting in my mind was my recent sabre handle. Within a week I had researched, designed and stitched this piece. I also intend to extend this idea to larger scale projects.

Wow, man/lord that's so awesome.
Unfortunately, it remembers me my mechanical design classes (that I hated) but it's really cool. I think i couldn't do it better in 2d design software!

That reminds me of high school, I took two classes that used CAD. I wish I remembered how because I used to make some amazing 3D line drawings that could have so been cross stitched.

LL did you use a cross stitch program or a drafting program to design that?

That is really great. I can see you doing many, many other versions of this. Just think of all the Star Trek devices, or Sonic Screwdrivers you could design.

It started as just a saber design for something else, and got a bit out of hand. It was all hand drawn. I used to draw isometric things all the time, so I was used to it.

I've already started thinking about what else to do. Not sure what to do next though...

Oooh, I love this! I used to love making blueprints in high school and never thought to put it to use in my stitching. This is great!

I've done patterns of exploded views of food before. I had thought of blue prints, but this was at a time when I was working with actual blue prints and just couldn't make myself turn them into patterns. I love yours, though.
