M1911 Handgun

Post by Celes_Lionheart »

I had to take a short break from working on my Final Fantasy Stitch Along for a birthday present.

This was for my Fiance's Co-worker's 50th birthday. ^_~ Unfortunetly he isn't into video games, but he does love going to the shooting range so I picked his gun of choice, the M1911, to stitch up. Its about 4 by 5 1/2 inches big, 75x47 stitches on 14 count aida. The full gun is stitched in regular DMC Cotton thread, for the name I used DMC Satin thread to give it a bit of shimmer.

that is very interesting, did you think about backstitching at all when you was doing this project?

Yeah, I had thought of some backstitching, mostly for additional detail.
The main reason I didn't go that way was a time limit. I only had tuesday to make pattern and get everything to go, then wednesday-friday to stitch it. Just getting the color/lettering done I almost didn't make it, I finished the last few stitches about 15mins before we had to leave for the event when we were giving it to our friend ^_^;; the last 15 mins involved getting it ironed, cleaned up, matted, framed and ready to go.
