genuine vs fake dmc threads. please please please help.

Post by thepandabera »

Hi i recently bought some dmc threads online and when they came they felt a bit stiff. i first thought it was because they had all been squashed in a zip lock bag but when i saw the labels it was different to the ones i buy here. is it because its from another country? or is it a fake?. ive heard about fake threads `bleeding` or fading through time so im a bit worried. Well, you can test the fastness of the colour easily. Just cut off some of thread and pour boiling water over it. Leave it overnight and if the water is clear the next day, you're safe.

To me, I can't see enough differences to tell you it's fake or not. They look more like older/newer packaging than fake packaging.

I think its just new packaging, i bought a bag full at Wal-Mart last month and they were transitioning from the old cover to the new so most of my threads are in the new covers.
