If I was you, I'd cut out the 703 and replace them with something like a 987 or a 3345? I haven't got all my greens in front of me at the minute so I can't be sure but if I remember correctly they should be dark enough to contrast with a 471.
I'll double check if you like :)

Yeah I was looking at 3345 but I went for 3363.

Strange how we can talk colour numbers and know what were talking about =)

Worried the squares are to dark now compared to the others people are making

Contrast is not a deterrent. If it's going to be "an issue" (and I don't think it will be) It can be a corner piece. Personally I think a variegated grassland will make the piece look more genuinely hand-crafted by many people.

3363 looks like a good match, too. And yeah, a non-stitcher looking in now would have no idea what all the numbers mean :D
I wouldn't worry about the squares being too dark. It's the subtle differences in our patches / stitching styles that will make the finished quilt that much better ;)

If this project goes well and people are wanting to keep going we can set down standard numbers for the backgrounds for the second quilt for a more uniform look, but I like the different colors that I'm hearing about.

Besides, the patches will have a line of fabric between them so the differences won't be terribly glaringly obvious.

Just for the record, these are the colors I'm using for the grass background:

Main grass: 907
Light blades: 472
Light blade tips: 318
Dark blades: 470
Dark blade tips: 3032

Some of my colors are a little different, but that's not really gonna matter for the Ditto patch, since I covered it with Dittos.

Hi there,

Just wanted to say, that I think you guys are awesome for doing this! And that I just loves the squares your making and doing :good:
Unfortunately, I can't contibute myself, I just can't find the time for stitching this but I'm really following your progress (here, facebook and the blog!).

I did download a couple of the square-patterns I could find here, cause somewhere in the future, I would love to stitch a few of them... Do you guys have a central place for keeping these patterns?

Keep up the great work!

Oh, and the cost of skeins is ridiculously spread over the world... In Holland, the average price is about 1,25 euros (about 1 pound/1,5 dollars if i'm correct), but luckily I found a guy who sells them for 0,35 euro's, so when I need new colors I order from him, doesnt cost me more then 10 euro's for a whole package full of nice new colors! Fabric is expensive though... but I stocked on that a long time ago...
