If we presume each current member does one patch per month (appx) 14 x 5 = 70 patches. We need 90?

I don't think I can commit to stitching that many squares. It seems like an awful lot and with work, I can't get one done every two weeks. And also, just because there's this charity quilt doesn't mean we can forget about the other charity quilt already in process. I'm just saying! Anyway, I'm working on this one but I'm going to have to see about stitching any others.

I have two whole weeks off work after next weekend, so I hope to get a lot done on my patches. Hopefully that pulls things along nicely. <3

And Holder seems to go quickly at his, which is amazing.

Yurtle, anything you do is wonderful. Like I said before - I can't ask that kind of commitment from everyone. Thankfully it's only 81 squares. I wasn't counting 14 people, just 12.

As it is, we'll go by ear. I won't ask any more from anyone that they aren't willing to give. I would love to have this done and ready for auction by the end of August, but if it can't be done, it can't be done. I'll do as many as I can, and recruit who I can offline to help.

Anyhow - on to more positive news! Tomorrow evening the PPG will have its own forums! They're currently being put together and will be ready for late tomorrow night. ^_^

As it is, I'd like to kick off this news by announcing the first Patchwork Pokemon Gym Competition! Since we are a Gym it's only fitting that we have a badge. This badge will be our logo (like the heart with needles is here) and the way that we'll be recognized. Don't post anything here - it's going to be the first major kick-off on the new forums. BMH will have a link on the PPG main site to the forum, so it's won't be difficult to find.

Just don't make it too huge! ^_^ I'll make the prize worth your while.
We are the Patchwork Pokemon Gym! Fear our needles for we summon our Pokemon with fabric and floss! And we are AWESOME!!

I've been working on mine pretty steady as with my husband's new job, I'm home alone at night. (It has its pros and cons).

I would be against cutting out the "lesser known" Pokemon as, currently, that's really all I'm doing. Also, just because they're lesser known doesn't mean that someone out there may not really love Taros or something like that. :)

It's my opinion that one shouldn't feel forced to make more than one square if one doesn't have the time/resources. This is purely volunteer work. Also, I don't think one should feel pressured to put one charity quilt over another. I personally am not involved with the Child's Play one, so that frees me up in that area.

If we are going to shoot for august I can do the Sandshrew/Sandslash patch as well. I also agree that we shouldn't nix any pokemon based on popularity since I think everyone has personal attachments to different pokemon for different reasons. I know I chose to stitch aerodactyl because I used to love dinosaurs so he has always been a favorite of mine

On a side note I got all my supplies and get to start tonight. My plans of starting yesterday was thwarted when my phone died that had my color lists on them and I couldn't buy my floss til today. I guess it is good I am off the next two days.

Not doing more than you care to do has been something I've been trying to stress since the beginning.

Honestly I think shooting to have it finished by the end of August is probably a good goal - it's the beginning of the school season here in the US, it is getting cold in the Northern Hemisphere, and it's the very beginning of the holiday gift hunting season. (I know people who start the day after Christmas for the next year.)

Which means the quilt itself won't be finished until early September (at the earliest, since some patches are coming from a very long distance).

Yes, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to imply or impose that everyone MUST do multiple patches. It was just a guesstimate of time investment. I'm also not involved in the CP side (though I have a personal project I am doing), so I can hopefully put together multiple patches. If all goes well the Dig's will be done this week and I can start on the newest patch for April.

Can someone point out to me which ones i've missed out evolutions on?

Also looking at what everyone's been talking about, I still think aiming to get all 81 squares might be a bit too much. I mean in terms of sheer cost, Holder and I are spending about £12.50 per square, which is a lot.

Although I think this is a great idea, in reality it might even be more beneficial to the charity if we were all donating £12:50 a month as it may be the case that the money spent on each square will be more than what it sells for!

Holder and I are also hoping to save some money to go on holiday at some point this year and spend more time together now my university is about to finish so expecting 1 square per member per month would involve finding people who don't have many other commitments.

If Holder and I made 3 squares each it would cost us nearly £100 between us.

Just something you might want to consider in case you're really unwilling to aim for anything less than 81 squares!
