Ellesmere Chaucer

Hi!
I was wondering if someone could help me with a pattern for a piece of the Ellesmere Chaucer. My oldest friend is in the process of earning a PhD in medieval studies, and I'd love to do a cross stitch for her graduation present. It doesn't have to be any particular size, although i was hoping for not much more than 16x11-ish--definitely open to going larger if it'll improve the pattern, though. Also, I don't have a preference for number of colors. I've done projects up to 75 colors, but I'm sure I could handle more than that if necessary. I don't have a preference for count size either, 14, 18, 20, 22, all good. Not 24 or beyond, though. (My poor eyes.)
I'm attaching the picture and the URL, but there are many versions of this image (and others) online.

Thank you! And I hope I'm requesting this correctly! I've tried using the free online software to convert the image, but I can't figure out how to refine it properly to make a good pattern, so I appreciate all the help I can get!
