Starry Night

Hello all! I have a request I was wondering if someone could help with. Most of you know the painting Starry Night, by Vincent Van Gogh? I bought a pattern for it a LONG time ago, but as I started stitching, it started to not be fun anymore. It is HUGE, with 22 full printer-size pages full of stitches (not one square is without a stitch), and there are SO many colors the whole thing is do one stitch, tie off, get a new color. Do one more stitch, tie off, etc.
So, I am asking if someone could create a pattern for me (I tried, but I just can't figure it out) for this painting so that it is NOT huge (I am thinking maybe around 12" wide by 10" tall? Or around that area, doesn't have to be perfectly to that size spec), doesn't have 10 million colors (as few as possible, but I do want it to look good of course), and is maybe an 18 or a 14 count. I am ok with PDF files too.
If you could help me out, it would mean so much to me! This is my favorite painting, and the pattern I have is just not fun, and I don't want it to kill my love of cross stitch.
Thank you so much in advance, I really appreciate it!!!

Wow, I never thought of it, this piece would make an amazing cross stitch picture when it is finished! I hope someone can convert it to a pattern :tri

Just saying: the expressive brush strokes and lines lend this piece to embroidery better than a grid-based system (like cross stitch).
like so and so.
But do whatever you want of course and good luck! :D

I haven't had much success so far using the KG stitch (and I've been struggling for a week!), so I'm going to post the picture...I hope this helps! I really hope someone can help me. For some reason I really want to cross stitch this...me and my ideas, lol! :)

Definitely a good idea. If this doesn't pan out I might turn to embroidery. But, it'd just look so cool as a cross stitch!!!! I wish the pattern I have wasn't 56 pages! :D

It's almost impossible for me to scale and index Starry Night to the size that you want it, but I may have found something that could help.

This is a pixelated version of the painting that someone made into an icon. It's 50 by 50 stitches, which means on 18 count that it's 3 by 3 inches. It's only 11 colors, as well. I know it's not exactly what you wanted, but maybe someone who works with larger image patterns can help as well.

Thank you SO much. This is a really awesome small version of it. I tried making one of my own, but I think it looks a little weird. I will post that to see what people think.
I really appreciate you taking the time to help me. Thank you!!!!

What do you think of this pattern? Do you think it would look okay?

I have started stitching the little pixel pattern for this. Its turning out quite well, but the colours given make it fairly dark. Also the alternating 311/3750 colours are nearly identical, so they could probably be merged.

Awesome! Keep me up to date on how it turns out! I am working on finishing a stitch now, and will be starting that one soon. Thank you!
