Hello Everyone,

New person here. Wish to do a Cross Stitch for my Boyfriends birthday. The only cartoon character he likes is Superman. Any chance anyone can seriously help me with this picture??

Looking to sew onto 14" Aida
Finished size around 20.99" x 27.4"

If anyone can help I will ensure I post progress photos of my work :good:

Hi casinozgirl, I'm giving this one a try but I need to ask something first :)

Just to clarify, do you mean 20.99 x 27.4 inches?

EDIT: Also, is there a limit to the amount of colours you want to use? (forgot to ask lol)

Yes you are correct with the sizing.

As for the number of colours required, I would like it to be quite detailed but possibly no more than say 30 colours if that is at all possible??
Thank you so much for looking into this for me :clapping:

Oh also is it possible to have it in .sth or jpeg file formats?
I find it much easier to follow than pdf. :D :D

Ok, I put it through KGChart at the size you wanted and this is what I got:
Spoiler
Superman (pattern).jpg
Superman (pattern).jpg (61.28 KiB) Viewed 7324 times
Superman.sth
(116 KiB) Downloaded 372 times
I decided to let the program choose the amount of colours, as I thought that 30 didn't look too good. So, it's 38 (I think) :)
If you want it more detailed or anything else changing, please post back here and I'll try PCStitch as that can give better results sometimes.

Hope this helps! ^^

This is just what I wanted! Thank you so much. It is perfect. May be a stupid question but the colour codes, are they for DMC threads?
Can't wait to start this one. Got to juggle between this one and doing another one for sis!! Eek :green

You're very welcome! Just make sure to show us the finished product - we all like to see patterns become the real thing :D
And yes, the colour codes are for DMC threads.

Good luck with your project! ^^

Hey, I checked the pattern today and have realised that it is way too big! Is it possible to make it 12 inches wide by 20 inches long? Realistically I wanted it to fit a A4 picture frame. Hope this is possible. Let me know what you think. Hoping to keep as much detail as possible. I can do half and quarter stitches no problem. :wiz

Ok, I tried what you asked for, it turned out to be 17x20 on 14 ct. I will say, it doesn't look too good with what I did. Good luck, tho.

OK, sorry for the wait, pc still not built but I'm not gonna let a little thing like no computer stop me!! ...well I suppose technically that isn't true but I'm sure you get what I mean :D Anyway, on to the pattern!
Thanks to tigressmellora's efforts (thanks for helping out tigress!), I know that this image isn't gonna come out too good at such a low res. So...I had a think and I came up with these... not exactly what you requested but see what you think!
Superman (BW).sth
(43.16 KiB) Downloaded 320 times
110w x 170h, 5270 stitches, 17 colours.
@18 ct = 31.04 x 47.97 cm
@14 ct = 39.91 x 61.68 cm
Superman (Colour).sth
(27.26 KiB) Downloaded 345 times
110w x 161h, 4742 stitches, 20 colours.
@18 ct = 31.04 x 45.43 cm
@14 ct = 39.91 x 58.42 cm

As you can see, I split the image in to two, cos I thought I could get a better result that way. I think they'd look not bad as a pair :D
I know they won't fit in A4 frames, but I'm sure there are frames they will fit in, I forget the sizes of the large frames but I do have some in my house so I know they're out there! I'd also recommend doing these in 18ct aida if you can, it may give a better result to the finished article :)
Anyway, let me know what you think of this idea, and if I can give any more help please don't hesitate to ask! ^^
