Sprite Stitch Board!

I'm a big Studio Ghibli fan, and have decided that I want to do a little series of Ghibli towels. The only problem is that I can't seem to get the hang of making patterns. So I thought I'd ask the more experienced pattern makers for a little .

I'm doing 4 towels. I want 4 different images, one for each (duh), and they should be in the size range of 30-40 x 30-40 stitches. I'm doing them on 14 count soluble canvas, and that would make about the right size. I can also stitch them up "double size", so that one square on the pattern is 2x2 stitches, which would make the pattern 15-20x15-20. Number of colors is not an issue, "anything" is ok (but 30 colors per sprite might be a bit over the top). I really want to have one with the soot sprites, preferably 2-3 of them and having their star food/snacks, and one with Totoro. And maybe one with the black Ghost-thingy with the white mask from Spirited Away. Other than that I'll leave it to you to find other ideas.

So, there you have it. My humble request for help. There's no rush, and I would really like a lot of suggestions so I have some to choose from. (Yeah, I know I'm pushing it. ) But any and all help is very much appreciated. And I will of course make a WIP thread so you can see your pattern making skills becoming a beautiful piece.

When making pattern requests we usually ask that you provide links to the images that you'd like turned into patterns (it saves the pattern makers a lot of time). Especially since not everyone may know which characters/scenes you're talking about ;)

We also already have some Ghibli patterns on the board - here's what my wiki search turned up - maybe you can use/reuse some of them?

None of the wiki patterns is of any use to me, I already checked before I posted the request. And I'm having trouble finding the exact pictures I want, because they are part of bigger pictures. So here's what I'm thinking. If I add links to the pictures I want part of, and you guys make those pictures, I can pick out the pieces I want from the overall patterns. That way you guys can get an easier task, and I get what I want. Everybody wins. So here we go

So, since I didn't find a lot of Ghibli patterns in the size range I was looking for in the archive, I decided to give KG chart another go and see what I came up with. And after a few initial problems I think I might have gotten a hang of it. So I thought I would share what I made, so that others might use them later on.
