just for me to know, what has changed in comparison with previous year's rules ?
We can only sign up for 2 squares to begin with, then we may add more once they are finished (if we wish to). Also a new rule to ensure that nobody uses any specialist threads like metallics etc.
Nothing big or serious, just stuff to take the pressure off people and also make sure that all the squares have the same consistency! :D

I also asked everyone to measure your aida to see if 96x96 is a 6"x6" area before you stitch so there aren't any problems with realizing it is too small or too big after you finish stitching.

I also expanded the rules to say you can stitch just a character from a game as long as it fills your square and is obvious which game it is from. I gave an example of Kirby. Some people have been doing this already so I wanted to lay down the ground rules.

You are the reason I suggested measuring it before. :D I don't want you to go through that again. Sometimes Aida can be different sizes for some reason because it may be a poor quality or maybe it got stuck in a machine at a factory that shrank or stretched it.

I like it! I didn't count the squares, but if it is the 96x96, do it!

Just got done signing up for 2 squares. I had already decided to make a couple of squares for the 2013 quilt so made up a BUNCH of patterns for it. My hardest problem was deciding which ones to do first! :D
WIPs:
LoZ:LTTP Map (page 13 of 15)
Save the Stitches Blackwork
Frederick the Literate Kit

I have admired the work you all have done on these quilts in previous years. I am excited to participate this year. Just signed up for two squares.... now to decide what scenes to use for the patterns...... :)
I think so, Brain, but can the gummi worms really live in peace with the marshmallow chicks?
I think so, Brain, but if they called them "sad meals" nobody would buy them.

I just found out that Magfest (the HUGE video gaming convention I am a part of each year) has both a silent auction and a live auction that benefits Child's Play every year. Is this something we would be interested in donating a quilt to next year?

*Washington DC, VA, MD – December 20th, 2012* – In the past two
years, MAGFest, the Music And Gaming Festival, has raised over $15,000
to support Child's Play (http://www.childsplaycharity.org), the
Penny-Arcade run charity which provides games to children's hospitals
around the world. This year, MAGFest hopes to surpass all years
previous by offering a variety of charitable activities to help raise
money for Child's Play.

Usually known for its non-stop gaming and concerts, the upcoming 11th
annual *MAGFest* will also be hosting both live and silent charity
auctions, as well as a brand new event: *Table Flipping For Charity*.
MAGFest provides the table, cutlery, cups, beverages, and more, and
you provide the rage. The more you donate, the more stuff you get to
flip over. Never before have violent outbursts been so productive to
society!

Silent auctions will be running throughout the entire weekend, and a
live auction will be held on Sunday afternoon (January 6th). Dozens of
rare and signed gaming items will be up for auction, including several
one-of-a-kind items such as a signed printer's proof sheet from Final
Fantasy: Distant Worlds, as well as a mint condition vinyl soundtrack
to Beverly Hills Cop 2, signed by Final Fantasy composer Nobuo
Uematsu's band Earthbound Papas (formerly The Black Mages).
