You say that, but it did the same thing to me, just with different colours :P

I've usually had better luck with PC Stitch. That's why I own it. KG Chart seems to mess up just a badly. But I've never seen PC Stitch be quite this bad before though. I wonder if it has something to do with the new version.

I don't think I have time to commit to making one of these currently... But my friend might! I'm trying to talk him into making a xenogears one =-)

The only colors I've seen PC Stitch completely miss are purples. It freaking hates purples.
There are usually only a few colors that I alter (2-4 at most) per pattern. I did one piece with all sorts of bizarre colors that I was sure was going to look like crap but it turns out that no, the colors the program choose were correct and it looked great. Often pixel colors are influenced by the surrounding pixels and the programs are more accurate than we give them credit for... except for purples.

Agreed. Also except for these accursed blues!
But, I'm not gonna lay 100% of the blame at the program's door. For me, a lot of it was just the fact that the colours I needed don't exist in reality, lol. :P

I've never used a pattern program to make cross stitches (I usually go off sprite sheets), so I can't say about the color/number assignment to the pieces... But in my experience, the tactile colors and the digital colors often don't translate exactly. They can change depending on the lighting of the room vs. the lighting of the screen etc..
Printing out can help, but only if your printer prints colors accurately. Sometimes you just have to go with a color that looks "close enough"

DMC has a lot of colors but some colors cannot be reproduced with dyes/pigments.

<Digital Art Nerd rant> I would argue that the colors on screen will NEVER absolutely match what is printed/painted/stitched. <digital art nerd rant>
But hey, if we can't tell the difference who cares? Just try your best and do what "looks" right ;)

Well I haven't posted anything since I signed up for this so I thought I'd better show a work in progress. The delay was mostly due to my camera's battery dying and I kept forgetting to buy new ones. Anyway... here's Bionic Commando!

That's great, gratch!

Argh, I'm so lazy, I haven't even bothered to get the WIPs of my Ecco II piece off my phone. But it's finished, and washed etc! So will definitely have a photo of it tomorrow! :D
