Sprite Stitch Board!

Oh my goodness, I am in love with this idea askfhjls

I definitely want to sign up for a Crisis Core patch (because sanity? What's that? /brick'd). Though with how slow I am to stitch, I may not make more than one patch. :x

Still, this is going to be fun and I can't wait to get my fabric and colors to start stitching!

'bout time i stopped lurking and actually sign up.... i love this idea and would love to stitch a square from Bubsy (SNES), but have no idea how to turn a screenshot into a pattern... if anyone could help me out i'd really appreciate it

I dunno much about saving patterns in KG-Chart (plus they usually pick the wrong colors anyway) but here's what I did to make my pattern reference image:

1. Downloaded the game ROM and took a screenshot of the scene I wanted (if you already found a good quality(preferably .png) screenshot online, you can skip that step. I just couldn't find any that were saved in a high quality format for my own)
2. Cropped the image from the screenshot in an image editing program and then resized it to the actual game console resolution (In this case it was a Game Boy Color game, so I looked up the actual Game Boy screen size [160 x 144 pixels] and resized it to that). That way you don't end up with double-size pixels when you create your pattern.
3. Imported the image to KG-Chart pattern making program. If you don't want to mess with a pattern maker, you could always use Photoshop/another image editor to zoom in far enough to see the pixels. That only works if you have constant access to your computer while stitching, though, as you can't print it at that increased size without losing image quality.

Well, hope that helped a little bit. Sorry I can't be of more help with the actual pattern maker, but I tend not to rely on it too much myself. I usually just bring my iPod along to the store with the image saved on it so I can make sure the colors look right before I buy them.

I followed the original post, so when my store was also out of white 16 count, I bought an off-white color instead thinking it would be fine. I am now approximately 1/3 of the way done with my square. If it's really going to be a problem, I guess I won't be sending it.

No, it is definitely ok! I had someone want to stitch on aida that was more yellow than white, which is why I said that. The point is not to pick a colored aida so you do not have to stitch everything. The entire block should be filled and any shade of white or off white is fine.

Hello. Give me advise. How about beige aida?
There are only beige aida in my local store. I wonder if it is acceptable.
If not, I'll order white or off-white or cream on internet.

As I actually just said above, white, off-white, or cream. Beige would be a color, so is probably not ok. It isn't just filling in the block, you will see some of the aida between the block and the fabric.

Also, this is your first post? Have you signed up on the spreadsheet yet? Have you made sure your stitching is a screen shot?

This is great news! I was really looking forward to participating and my square follows all listed rules. Hooray!
