What I've always done is check if the person I got has a website or DA and see what they like or have done themselves. You can also check their posts on SS by using the search bar at the top right. That way you can get a feel of what they might like or want.

We're going off the random selection that johloh measured and they were all 9.5" x 4" / 24cm x 10cm.brityboo wrote:Question. How big would the standard envelope be? I think size might be different for everyone? I dunno. xD
That's pretty much a standard letter size for most countries, I think.
Don't worry if you go slightly over, though - as I have said repeatedly, the envelope thing is just to keep people thinking small. It doesn't have to be mailed in the envelope, but everyone should aim to fit their item(s) inside that size requirement! (The big stuff can wait until the big swap

I hadn't thought of that! Great idea! After lurking a bit, I finally made my pattern, just waiting for a couple supplies to come in the mail. Its a good thing I am working on a Halloween x-stitch, or I would be going crazy waiting!purcell_a05 wrote:What I've always done is check if the person I got has a website or DA and see what they like or have done themselves. That's what I did for my partner, checked all their posts and going by their PM info, I was able to judge what they really like and hopefully add my own touch to it. OOOHHH I can't wait to finish it, and hope they like it!!! I've already done about 800 stitches and I'm trying to get it done as fast as possible, the suspense is killing me!! In a good way of course : )

I've got all my "kits" made for my projects, but just haven't started actually stitching, yet. Been kind of busy the last couple of days, but will have at least one of them done this weekend. No worries, here...it's only September 2nd. Plenty of time

Actually glad i made a test one as it's way too large, so I'm going to have to resize the real one. That and I'm still learning how to use my sewing machine...

lol! Well if I can fine tune this enough I'll make one for you too. :D
Doesn't help that I can't find a good pattern on the internetz, well not made for sewing dummies at least.
