Hi, tigress. There's a summary post on page 8 by me and there's a spreadsheet to fill out too. Here's the link for the sheet, just fill in your info and you can see what everyone else signed up for as well.

corbin wrote:Yeah the 6x6 stitching area comes to 96x96 stitches and tnitnetny I believe is refering to the total quilt sizes. As for filled in vs. not filled in I think a combo could be nice maybe have totally filled in "scenes" and some less filled in with maybe just characters or something? I know I was planning to fill the whole 96x96 work space but I'd say to leave the option open not to fill it unless it is problematic from a quilting stand point. I would say just make sure it is nice and centered for the quilter(s) ^_^
Sorry, I got confused too guys! For some reson I thought everyone was referring to 96x96 as the finished quilt size. Ignore me, I will just sit in my corner until it's time to quilt.

I just wanted to summarize what's going on again. If you want to contribute and haven't filled in the form please do so below or feel free to remove yourself if you're not interested any more. There were a few people that expressed interest in contributing but haven't filled in the sheet so I can't be sure whether they're still interested. I'll go through and prune the list soon of people that haven't filled in anything, just putting an "Any" and maybe voting on a themed quilt are enough, just so I know you're still with us.

Here's the cloth summary again:
16 count white aida
6"x6" (96x96 stitches) working space
We need a 5" border on each side so:
at LEAST 15"x15" total canvas size
Also, plan on sending $2-$3
per square to cover the cost of quilting materials(not finalized yet, but plan for it)
At this point I think its safe to say there will be a Zelda themed quilt and probably a Final Fantasy themed quilt as well so we can probably start planning some of those so we don't get 10 squares of black mages. I don't think that should exclude those games entirely from the misc quilt as they'll probably end up in different locations, but what does everyone else think about it?
I guess we should leave "sign-ups" open for a while longer, maybe until after the New Year? I'm usually a pretty fast stitcher, so I probably don't have the best ideas for timelines.

Why close the sign ups? I say keep it open as long as the people can get them done and in the mail by whenever they are due. I am going to donate, i just do not know quite yet what.

Aww, you say that like it's a bad thing
But of course I do agree, planning is the key to doing this successfully.
I would just like to add that in the planning phase can we also ensure that we have a wide range of games (and systems) so that we don't end up with an 8 bit Nintendo quilt. Not that I have anything against that either, I just think that since it's a misc game quilt that we should encompass a decent range of genres and characters, without limiting ourselves to one company, system or even style.
I hope that makes sense, I have a cold right now so making sense is not easy lol

When you assign people their topics for stitching, don't forget one square for the new Sprite Stitch logo and one square for the logo of the Charity.

tigress, I think we need to close sign-ups at some point to make organizing the squares easier.
Good thing you mentioned that, tnitnetny, I almost certainly would have forgotten. Maybe we can combine them onto one square right in the middle?
blackheartmage, I KNEW after I hit submit I should have put fighter instead. I agree though, I think it will be best to get as many games/systems on the misc quilt as we can. A lot of people that have filled in the sheet have picked Nintendo games, so maybe the "any games" crew can fill in this void a little better. I do think we should stay with relatively basic stitchings though. I don't know how it would look if one person did some crazy shaded anime(I hate shading!) and everyone else did a simple sprite. Someone(I think corbin) suggested we post the patterns we're planning on doing and I think that's a good idea.
I think even the themed quilts will take some organization so we don't end up with 4 tri forces and no old men. I'm not sure of the best way to organize that though, maybe just another google doc?

should probably keep sign ups open a little longer since this idea has only been out there for a couple of weeks, we're still kind of brainstorming
maybe until december? or new years? i dunno^^; it's exciting and i know we want to get stuff started asap, but let's take our time too, right?
there is the issue of wanting to get everyone organized so they can start stitching their squares, but i dunno about anyone else but i have like 8 hogillion christmas projects to do before i can even think about starting anything else, lol.
if tnitnetny needs everything by august, if we leave sign ups open until new years that still gives us 8 months to organize everything, have everyone stitch and send it along. 8 months is a pretty long time, if we've managed to get this many ideas cranked out in less than 1 ;D

I totally agree, Stardrifter. At the earliest I was planning New Years to try and figure out who gets what. I asked in a previous post if that was a good time, so it seems like you agree
