I could be remembering this wrong...Charizard is a dragon, just not a Dragon type (Fire and Flying? Forgive me, it's been a long time since I played any Pokemon). But I think I remember them being able to learn some Dragon type moves.
Not sure about Gyarados, something similar may apply though.
Map's great - I very nearly made something like this a couple of years ago for one of the swaps. Upon seeing the finished product, I regret not doing so!

Gyarados (Water/Flying) can learn Dragon Rage, Twister, Dragon Tail and Dragon Dance
Charizard (Fire/Flying) can learn Dragon Claw, Dragon Rage, Outrage, Dragon Rush and Dragon Pulse
Pokemon can't have more than 2 types, so I suppose they just made these two the 2 types that they felt better described them, which really brings me to the fact that Gyarados is a flying type pokemon that learns all of one flying move (bounce). I don't even think that counts. Bounce shouldn't count as a flying move. His one flying move should be a little more majestic than hopping a fence. I had assumed that the mighty fence would prove no trouble for a GIANT CHINESE DRAGON.
My advice to all: stitch a map. Pokemon or not, its very rewarding. I'm also in the process of stitching the original Kanto map from Pokemon Red, which, I hope, will come out well.
and Pyper: I agree with you 100% about Charizard. he is a fire dragon, and nothing else. Also, Gyarados is a chinese water dragon, and shouldn't be classified as anything else.
I really like that map- I'm all nostalgia'd!
Is there any chance of getting the patterns for both Kanto and Johto?
Working on:
Retro X & Y! - lost the pattern and fabric, but it's resurfaced ...and i've lost it again lol

I'd love a copy of it, Ally!
