Damaniel's FFVI esper projects

I was waiting for a large piece of black aida that I ordered online to show up, and decided to work on something else in the meantime. Since the larger project that I'm planning is Final Fantasy VI based, I figured I'd try stitching up one of the espers, and ended up deciding on Tritoch. I just finished it up this morning:

What makes this different compared to my usual projects is scale. Normally I do larger (generally 8x10+) projects, and usually use 14 count aida. In this case, I chose to use some spare 28 count black evenweave I had laying around. I had to go buy a magnifier lamp because working on 28 count cloth is a pain (especially black cloth, and even more so when using black floss). To give a sense of scale, the frame it's in is 5x7, matted down to 3x5. There's still nearly 3000 stitches in there!

Now that I have the aida I ordered, I'm not sure whether I want to work on my original project or stitch up a couple more espers on the evenweave. Too many ideas, so little time... :)

My favorite Esper, and beautiful on black! 10 / 10 presentation with the mat and frame, too.

Here's one that I just finished of Phoenix. Instead of the 28 count evenweave which I used last time, I decided to use standard 14 count aida. I think for future work I'll try using 2 threads on 18 count (to make the black behind some of the stitches less visible). Ignore the smudges on the glass and dust on the frame - I need to give the surface a good cleaning.
