Nimby's Projects

I know not a very creative subject title, but I'm headed off to bed, so I thought I'd put up today's work.
Anyway, I was looking for a (fairly) simple one get back in practice (had done some years ago) and found this:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4329&p=33960 here. I'm planning on adding a picture to the opposite side (that from the looks of it will overlap slightly) and possibly some underneath to fill in a bit more.
For now, though, I'm focusing on the basic pattern:

- Day 1.jpg (29.41 KiB) Viewed 2843 times
That's (roughly) 11' (assuming that fingertip to fingertip is roughly my height, minus some slack) in 246 stitches. Adding the assumption that the total count is about right (still have to add some, but some of it is white and won't actually be needing to be stitched), then it should be finished on the 8th or 9th of May. And I'll probably include the changing target date when I put up more WIPes.

I hope that's good, because it really works sarcastically for today...
First, I adjusted the pattern to a different size. Then found that the fabric was 150% the size of what I had the pattern for. So I added the image to the other side and adjusted it to the fabric's height and planned for it to overlap.
Turns out I managed to get my pattern to be roughly a quarter of the size of the fabric - allowing both to fit on about half the fabric I picked up (without overlapping). So I've got two projects on the same fabric now. To top it off, about half the image had to be restitched because of two miscounts.

- Day 2.jpg (116.7 KiB) Viewed 2719 times
Just got the 30 finished, which means I've finished that color for the main project. It added 108 stitches (for 354 total) but I noticed the image called for the same color and went to the other side of the fabric.

- Colors 1.jpg (14.54 KiB) Viewed 2716 times
And that is all of the 500 thread needed - I'd be impressed if someone can identify it by this picture.
So with 460 out of 4241 (if my math's right), that's a finish date of the 12th or 13th of May. The good news is that I should have some patterns to put up once I work out the differences between theory and reality.
Meanwhile I've just picked up the fabric for my first 'epic' stitch - which will be after I finish both of these.

That almost looks like a Chibi anime character, but I'm guessing it's a video game one?

Pretty close, actually. Though about as close to being a definitely wrong.
I finished up another color (728) today, although I won't be surprised if some of it will need to be redone - I made the letters too tall, and it was too far done to work my way back to the mistakes. So I ended up trimming off some - it actually looks a little worse in person, I think, but maybe it's just the 'know the difference' problem.
Also had to pull out a magnifying glass to pull apart a knot - it really messed with my eyes after. Plus I have to position it right, or I've got three views of the same thing in very different qualities.
The other half of the fabric hasn't had any adjustments yet, so no updates there. I have gotten two more colors for it, so once the first is finished, I'll have updates on the second. Which, I suppose, makes perfect sense.
Up to 793 out of 4241, which pushes the expected completion date back up to the 10th or 11th of May.

Still no update on the second half, but I think I can tell that the pattern linked to above will likely be finished tomorrow, so I'll take a picture with much more care.
For now, though, the WIP for Day 4:

- Day 4.jpg (96.63 KiB) Viewed 2567 times
It appears that I should have stopped when I ran out of the color, as it turns out the 'H' was one stitch too close to the numbers, but I think it actually looks alright at more of a distance. I did have to move to '30' line over, though. So more and more the pattern seems to be becoming a suggestion as to what the finished image should look like.
Stitch counts:
1156/1345 - Home Sweet (Loop)
95/3009 - [Image]
Current Completion Date: May 8th (1251/4354 stitches)

Had a minor issue with counts on the second stitching - I seemed to have some one stitch right and others one stitch down. Luckily most of it was actually in the right spot and I realized that
before unstitching. So, with three colors completed...

- Colors 2.jpg (15.64 KiB) Viewed 2514 times
And yes, that means that I got through my very first pattern in years

- Day 5.jpg (27.13 KiB) Viewed 2512 times
The picture's not great, but it's what I could get right now.

So, after about a week I finally managed to remember to get a picture - this is my project before any work today:
Unfortunately, the store is out of the color that has the highest count on this. So I'm working around it for now and checking when I'm out by there - hopefully they'll get some in before it's all that I have left.
I'm also using the pattern in KG-Chart to mark off what I've already stitched (but making sure not to save over the actual pattern). It looks incredibly strange. Probably becuase the completed half has over half the stitches needed. Adding in days where I got little to nothing done, assuming I can get the colors I need, I'm thinking I'll have it done by Monday, hopefully by the weekend.

Either I'm in desperate need of caffeine, or that's Bender. Actually, both may be true!
Looking good, though!

Thanks!
I'll give you partial credit for identification - it IS Bender, but a specific version. And I can't say for sure about the need for caffeine, but if you're anything like I am, that's a common if not constant condition.
In a bit of good news, though, I just ran out for food and figured I'd check to see if the thread I needed was at the store - it was!
