Kefka - Final Boss fight

Some of you who have been on the boards for many years may remember when I was first working on my
Kefka piece. Fast forward to today and I've
finally had a chance to do something I wanted to do since about half way through stitching Kefka. That's right. I added the background.
I did it all with my watercolor paints so that it effectively has 'stained' the fabric, unlike acrylic paint which would have left a layer on top of the fabric that makes it stiff and unmovable. Words cannot describe how happy I am with this.

I'll be going out tomorrow to get a frame and mat for it during a supply run so I'll post a picture of the final product then as well.

This is jaw-dropping, exquisite work. I don't even know where to start with the praise. I imagine it will be occupying a central spot in the household, yes?

Thanks for all the praise guys.

I'm really in love with how this piece turned out, and can't wait to see it finished/framed. The final pic has been delayed for want of a mat though, so hopefully I'll figure out an excuse to visit my Dad and use his equipment this weekend.
RMDC - I actually was talking to my fiance about art last night and he is thankfully very okay with mine decorating our future house.

Since I'll be moving countries once I'm married though I won't be keeping this original for myself. I'd like to put it up in an art show for auction, but most gaming conventions don't have an art show so I may have to send it in to an Anime one instead. Not sure. Either way, this first one will be for sale, but I won't be doing another except for myself afterwards.

I remember this piece...love the newly added background! Very fitting. ^^
Would like to add that you
can use acrylic paint on aida without it becoming stiff, I've done it myself! The trick is to water it right down as if you were using it like a watercolour (which is something else I do on a regular basis!) and it should work in the same way.

So, question from someone curious about this technique: Do you wash your project before you paint on the background? I would imagine that, since you used water colors, if you washed it, they would get washed out. But maybe that is my ignorance showing through....
The final thing looks totally awesome though!
