Is this the one that went with the Optimus Prime (Change Into A Truck poster) pattern? I'm currently working on that one and didn't like its color picks either. It's fun to see the Iron Man pattern being worked on now! I thought about making that one for my youngest, but after calculating that Optimus will be over 58,000 stitches, I'm not sure I'll have another big piece in me for quite some time!!

Yep, this is that one. What was it about the colors for Optimus that seemed off for you?

I had planned to do Optimus for my husband after I finish Iron man, but I think I need to have something different between the two.. Those big blocks of color look cool completed, but they are a little torturous to work on. I think I'll need colors other than red, yellow, and blue for a little while before jumping back in.

Virdilak wrote:It is important to note for whomever else might be trying this one, the colors the pattern calls for are not quite correct for the blues. The dark blue is actually a dark green, and the light blue is a kind of seafoam grey/blue/green - not really bad in and of itself, but just too green for the image. I used the dark blue meant for Optimus for Iron Man's dark blue, and I will probably steal the Optimus light blue as well.
Your progress is amazing. i'm also stitching this. i'll follow your lead and change the blues. the dark blue was green :/ thanks for the tip

The yellow was too yellow... It was like a lemon yellow. So I picked a more neutral muted color. Also the light blue was pretty green. I wouldn't have minded that SO much, but my Michaels was out of the color anyway, so I found another light blue that was kind of a mix between a sky blue and a peacock blue. It's a LITTLE darker than I would have liked, but Michaels had a ton of it in stock so I just went with it. Oh, and I think I changed my red from DMC 666 (again because Michaels was out, lol) to a verrrrry slightly warmer red, but it's almost indistinguishable from DMC 666. I liked and kept the suggested dark blue. I am at work right now, but when I get home I can post the colors I used if you're interested.

However, if you are going to do an Optimus to be hung anywhere near Ironman, I'd stick with the same colors you used for Ironman so they match.

Iron Man is going to a friend in another state, so they won't be too close. Thanks for the heads up on the colors you switched for Optimus, I'll be sure to give it a critical look when I get to him.

I'm currently working on this pattern and I was wondering what DMC color did you guys end up going with for the light blue? The Optimus Prime pattern calls for DMC 503 but that still looks too green to me. :/

I used the light blue in the Optimus pattern. I finished this a while ago, this is what I looks like with the change.
