Iron Man WIP

Post by Virdilak »

I mostly do my cross stitch at work; in a six-day week I get between 6 and 10ish hours of work in. That sounds a lot more impressive written out..

I'm using 18 count for this. Pattern called for 22 I think, but I don't think I would be able to handle that. The pattern itself is very small compared to what I'm used to, which ends up working out for me since I'm having to check and re-check my counts. Hopefully that will result in less mistakes in the long run.

My last piece was using black cloth - going to the white is still making my eyes cross. The more color I get on it the easier it is to look at. :D

First week's results of Iron Man overall:

I've actually moved on to the third or fourth color, I keep meaning to update. Maybe this weekend.

Clearly I did not reply that weekend. But here is my progress thus far:

It is important to note for whomever else might be trying this one, the colors the pattern calls for are not quite correct for the blues. The dark blue is actually a dark green, and the light blue is a kind of seafoam grey/blue/green - not really bad in and of itself, but just too green for the image. I used the dark blue meant for Optimus for Iron Man's dark blue, and I will probably steal the Optimus light blue as well. I have some of the per-the-pattern light blue in the detail picture, I'll be picking that out and replacing it once I'm done with the red.

I'm starting to fill in his light red - which is really vibrant, makes my eyes go a little wonky after working with the dark blue - and I'm going to get all the body done before I get going on the background stuff. I've mad a few counting errors, mostly in the head placement, so he's a little fatter than he should be on the left side and on the left shoulder, but I think it's looking pretty good!

Sweet, I'm glad I asked for patterns people like. They really are beautifully made, just remember the bit about Iron Man's blues being off.

This is coming along real nice. I saw the pattern when you requested it, but its shaping up to be so much more awesome that I thought...
