Sam R2D2's Cross stitch
Hi everyone - Been a member here since about 2008 but for the last year or so haven't been near my cross stiching for one reason or another but i've seen too many good projects on sprite stitch recently to keep me away any longer, i'll just have to make time!
I thought i'd start a thread with some of my old work, you'll probably find it scattered around the forum but it was a long time ago so maybe theres some new people who will find it interesting
Heres the first ever cross stitch i completed 3 or so years ago and finally got around to framing it a few weeks ago
Here is a set of fridge magnets i did for a friend, had great fun "racing" them around the fridge - i stupidly cut them out too small and ended up putting more aida behind it but it didnt look too bad in person
Another birthday present for a flat mate which she loved, i never took a photo of the finished article which is annoying but this was 85% complete so good enough
And now on to the list of "too be finished/framed" that i found at the bottom of my cross stiching box and had been forgotten about
This stitching of bender was great because it was only 4 colours so i could sit there watching TV and completely switch off!
These were going to be put into a 4 slot frame showing off the super mario world power ups but alas never got finished but will be when i order the threads (probably why i stopped in the first place!)
To be continued in the next post!

Re: Sam R2D2's Cross stitch
This stitching of Samus was another that got consigned to the "i dont have those threads" scrapheap
And the following two was just a bit of fun for the "quotations from film/tv/music etc" challenges from a few years ago
Hope you've enjoyed them, I'll be posting a WIP piece in the next few days too, it's going to be massive but i plan to do something spectacular with a whole series of characters - hopefully i'll have the patience
I've also realised that i've given more of these away as gifts than i've made for myself and didn't take photos of them before giving them away!

These are great
I really like the Bowser and the Napalm in the morning ones.
Magnets look like they have plastic cases around them, where did you get those? I can't find anything like that in any of the craft shops here

WIPS: Dwarf Fortress blanket, sailing ship stitch, shiny pokemon, moth bags

Welcome back Samr2d2!
Nice work, always good to see it again. But you should totally finish that Samus one, heh
Looking forward to seeing what you've got lined up!

Thanks, bowser is probably my favourite. I usually regret at least one thing with other projects (usually tiny like "i wish that was slightly darker green etcPyper wrote:These are greatI really like the Bowser and the Napalm in the morning ones.

about the magnets, I bought them online from a company that supplies blank plastics for promotional use. Just search for "blank fridge magnets" and you'll get loads of hits. It comes with a front that snaps in to place (aida cloth is a little too thick for it to snap but a thin line of super glue does the job)
You can get all sorts of things, blank keyrings, coasters etc. The small keyrings make great little presents! I think a lot of people use them for photos to give to friends and family too but they generally work for cross stitch with some persuasion.

Thanks BMH, threads for samus have been ordered tonight. I must have 180 different colours here already but every time i start a new project i only seem to have 20% of the necessary threadsblackmageheart wrote:Welcome back Samr2d2!

I'm the same - I always seem to have about 80% of the full DMC set (no matter how much I buy!), and I always need at least three colours I don't haveSamr2d2 wrote:I must have 180 different colours here already but every time i start a new project i only seem to have 20% of the necessary threads![]()
Why, thank you! ^^Samr2d2 wrote:Just had a look through your deviant art page too, all the new stuff is great!
