Tired of all the in-store tomatoes and hearts, I felt the need to make a gamer's version of the old pin cushion. Inspired by this octopus by Runo Dollmaker, I adapted the design into one of gaming's classic baddies.
He is about the same size as a standard tomato-style pin cushion, made of felt and stuffed tight with Polyfill. He is a little lopsided as you can see, but I think its just a testament to him being completely hand-made.
Thats really cute. I have a suggestion for an alteration to this. If you make the tentacles longer you could use them to tie it around or wrist or add some velcro so they can wrap around your wrist.
While I love having a pin cushion I really like the use of the wrist ones, otherwise I tend to leave the pin cushion on the other side of the room when I should have taken it with me.
I am planning to make wrist ones but with other designs. This lil guy is meant to be a stationary pin cushion, and that works well with me since I usually only do little projects and I stay in one place.
That's awesome! I have a boring old fashioned heart cushion that I stick all my needles on. If I ever had a chance to get a Zelda one though I'd definately want one of those EVIL Like-Likes. I'll stab that all day and smile in satisfaction each time xD

The idea of making a pin cushion has never occured to me. I've stuck with the same old one in my needle box since it was given to me years ago. I think this will be the first project I do away from cross stitching. At least then, if it looks daft it will only be for the needles and pins.
Cool! I love it . right now my pin cushion is homemade (xstitched cherries) but not as awesome as an octorok. Yeah ice, a like-like would be pretty rad too...
Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I'm going to be making more pin cushions to sell at Anime Weekend Atlanta (I'm sharing an Artist Alley table with a friend). This next one was an experiment...
He's not completely perfect, but somehow that expression makes up for it. I just found the idea of having Kirby with a >.< face to be too entertaining.
And thanks biostitch! I suppose that I should make a thread for my coasters...
