My first game sprite project (Super Mario Land 2 Towel)

The only Mario game I own (sad isn't it?) is Super Mario Land 2- 6 Golden Coins (copyright 1992 and I just beat it for the first time about 2 months ago, does that tell you anything about my gaming skillz? XD)

I wanted my first video game oriented stitch to be based on that though. It's really hard to draft sprites from a blinking paused screen... but luckily I know about tihs wonderful thing called GOOGLE and found this sprite sheet: http://sdb.drshnaps.com/objects/5/731/S ... nemies.gif

I decided to use the frog enemy from the Tree Zone and put it on a towel for my bathroom (cause I love frogs and Mario and cross stitching. And I wash my hands. So it's like... the greatest combination EVER!)
Obviously I'm taking some artistic freedom with the colors (since original Gameboy is light green, green, dark green, and darker green :P )

Here's the sprite I'm going off:

And here's my WIP! (about an hour and a half stitching time)

This is going to look great! I've been wanting to do a towel too. Only, if anyone uses it, I'll have to kick their butt!

I think they've redesigned the towels because I remember making one when I was little and the design wasclose to edge, this one the stitching strip is closer to the middle, so you actually could use it without completely destroying the stitches!
This one will probably be added into my "pretty to look at but no touchy!" rotation though.

Another update before I take a break for the night-

I made a Mario Kart and a Harvest Moon towel about a year ago and I told myself that I was totally going to use them. Well, I put one on the bathroom rack once to impress some gamer friends who were staying at our place, but I felt so bad that the towel may get ruined that I've never used it again since. So, I definitely understand what you mean :moog
