I always use 14. I like using 2 threads and I find that it looks too bulky using 2 threads on 18 count.

I tend to use 3 threads for 18, and 4 for 14. I find that less than that and it looks more obviously like little crosses, whereas I like a solid pixel look.

I'm working on Map 1 (aka have been for a year) and I use 3 threads on 18 as well. I think it looks prettier in the end.
